How do you know they are men, and not just girls who identify as men?

I've always liked the Anime men portrayed as confident, strong, kind and handsome.
However most Anime I've seen portray them as nerdy, clingy, socially awkward and well.. just weird but it might appeal to the mass demographics i.e. Otaku Culture.

I've always taken a liking to those who were portrayed as confident, strong, independent, (...) rather than all the currently popular shy, awkward ones who do have a trouble forming a single sentence regardless to whom they're talking..
So, thanks to those shy ones who're being popular nowadays, I can't say I do like the current trendy anime men.. Not in the slightest.

That type is the current trend? huh i thought it was muscular anime dudes, I personally havent watched anime in years but memes i saw recently were mostly about jojo and the anime about a prison? baki or something like that.

I've thought that's the current trend, at least..
If I shall be honest, I don't really know what's currently trendy and what's not, as I don't keep up with the news on various social networks and therefore lack the knowledge and general stance on such stuff.
It's very much possible, my take on this is currently very much outdated.

Korean Anime seems to have more confident male characters which is probably why I prefer them over Japanese Anime. One of my favorite Anime "Lookism" is actually a mix of the two where a nerdy guy becomes a handsome man (and I found the character more relatable of the things they go through).
