It should be noted that E.T.'s reputation isn't really deserved. Atari Pac-Man was even worse, and was actually guilty of some of the things E.T. is accused of, like more cartridges than consoles in existence being ordered.

But ultimately, 3rd party shovelware and market saturation were the biggest causes of the Crash of 83.

AFAIK they dug those up.

I knew a guy in grade school who had it.
It was the only Atari game him parents let him play.

I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hate ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Telengard. The Telltale Games of roguelikes. In that your choices don't matter. Your build sure as ♥♥♥♥ doesn't. Nothing you do matters. The outcome is always the same - you getting geeked at no FAULT of your own.

And yet that piece of ♥♥♥♥ from the 1980s has fans who have made at least one game that is it's spiritual successor, which may or may not have gotten a Steam release. Thanks, I hate it.
