Marketplace.tf is not owned by Steam nor Valve. Sure, it is used by TF2 fans but not really. Still, they don't know what it acts, use it at your own risk. The only two ways are trading through Steam and the Market.

If you're looking for something specific, go to A team fortress trading group or hop into a trading game.

And do the trade by the book.

As I said, it is safe. Just make sure you're using the right one. I've been using it since 2017, its a great site. it's originally been founded in 2012 by the TF community. As it's not owned by Steam or VALVe.
In case others don't know because they do not have tf2, the Mann co. Store is a rip off.

Yes, people have been hijacked. It's because people have been sent the wrong link by another. Leading to a corrupted and fake marketplace.

Real value is $0.00. Valve can create an infinite amount of any item(s).

Perceived Value is the value a user feels an item is worth.

When usingmarketplace.tf, you are dealing with bots, so if anything goes wrong, Valve can't offer any assistance. If the item gets lost or locked on a bot, then it is gone.

Hence why it is at one's own risk.

Totoro is correct, as usual. And the really sad part is steam can't really do a whole bunch about these websites. They go up, play a little shell game with the items, usually from a connected gambling site, and when they receive a cease-and-desist order they just take the website down and make another one.

They have absolutely zero reason to not rip you off.
