I never understand why people like vodka.

I remember stealing a swig from my brothers bottle when I was like 12 and it tasted like a gas pump. I drank many a drink and don't even like tequila. Never had gin. Unless it's Robitussin with the opium. And am used to burbon and scotch. But vodka and tequila. I never were used to.

It's because it has no impurities whatsoever. If you want to just get drunk, this is the way. And it was invented for just that purpose too: to let people get drunk fast and have no side effects. Personally, I prefer different drinks.

So 50% just it being good alcohol, since it doesn't have anything else in it and thus isn't subject to covalent ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, but is also subject to a dedicated class of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ which remove acute brain functions like quality assessment, unlike other alcohols.

Being unable to properly assess the quality of life is the main draw of alcohol, and being unable to tell that you're doing that is nice for some.

I've heard a couple of people claiming good Wodka should taste like nothing. If it tastes like a petrol station smells, it's cheap Fusel.

But where's the joy in drinking something that tastes like nothing and can easily kill you?

Not shamed by my faith. So it's not a sin. But overindulgence is. So the algebra is easy to do on that.

It's 40% alcohol by volume, you're supposed to sip the stuff so the taste and effects ease into your palate instead of tasting like chugging a gas pump. If you can't handle it straight, the alternative is using it as a base for mixed drinks.

Also, the quality of vodka is important too. Most stuff sold in the U.S. is made with rice (think bathtub sake) which requires several filterings, the real stuff is made with potatoes and only needs to be filtered three times to remove the impurities.

I think I would like the taste of the potatoe vodka rather than the rice one. I never liked rice and potato is chefs kiss.

No doubt. Water kills over a quarter a million people a year. Nothing that looks like water can be safe for anyone.
