Why is there all the sudden an influx of Boomer shooters?

Did people not think about making any 10 or 15 years ago?? Or have a few released every other year or so? Like why now???

they've been here forever. the term "boomer shooter" popped up just few years ago and everyone started running with it like a bunch of incels.

There are no such thing as boomer shooters because video games didn't exist when boomers were teenagers, and almost none of the boomers I know play video games even now, except maybe things like freemium games on facebook or mobile and that sort of thing.

As with all such trends it starts with some games making it popular again. I think Dusk was the origin of the current boomer shooter trend.

When I was a kid I asked my father if I was a boomer and he told me no, I was silly to ask since it had been too long since the war etc...

Today I am considered a boomer I guess. Played my first video game in the early 70's in an arcade and in 78 had a calculator I could program with a game to have a portable game to play waiting in line at the bank.

That said I have never heard the term boomer shooter before and have no idea what that means.
FPS shooter? Fast action FPS shooter?

They're popular. I downloaded a demo for one i haven't tried yet but it's basically like doom but in this game you're a wizard. it's called Wizrardum and it seems kinda cool.

Seriously though, when you are up front about the fact the graphics aren't going to be even remotely realistic, you can get extremely snappy input and response. So maybe people like that.

Some players like FPS games the way they were back in the day. Plus they don't have to own a high end setup to run them because " boomer shooters " have usually retro graphics.

I imagine its games like UT and Quake, but those weren't played by boomers. More like GenX and early Millennial teens at the time.

For the same reason there is an influx of remakes : its a safe way to sell a working product and make easy money.

Some will complain because there is a serious lack of originality and bring nothing new on the table.
Some will be fine with it because they end up with a good game in their hands.

Personally I agree with both.
