why people talking about games in off topic

Talking about people talking about games is Off Topic.

Off Topic is where people come to have breakdowns.

Off topic includes basically ANYTHING within the rules. It's not exclusive, so you can still talk about games.

I've had some great conversations about console games or older non_Steam games on here for example.

There's no real "rule" that one ~can't~ talk about games in Off Topic... it's just that this is more for not then in actual Game Forums...

most games forums block any discussion, most games are defended by fanbois, any criticism is met with "i dont have that issue". a lot of the time games themselves look like a pile of assets and not really a game, so it is kinda ilke discussing some broken down building that was plastered with fake decorations around it.

Not deying some toxic places exist but that has nothing to do with the OPs post.

They're asking why you can discuss games HERE on off topic. And it's because it's not exclusive.

Except there's nothing wrong with it in general.

It's not exclusive. You can discuss plenty of game related stuff here. It's just that if you have something more particularly game specific, then of course, you'd likely be better served in that game's forum/

I'm pointing out that it's not exclusive. People are free to discuss games here as just because it's off topic it does NOT mean you're not allowed to discuss games here.

That's the point.

You pointing out that people do discuss them here is not the point as we KNOW that.

Just saying, none of the game forums I participate in are like that. Bugs are reported & discussed, criticisms & opinions, both positive & negative, aired openly.
