Why are some people masochist?
I don't understand how anybody could enjoy pain and suffering...

Less than sadists

You mean sadists are more ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up than masochists?

I'd say they're both ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up.

I don't even know. I've been quite masochistic for as long as I can even remember even before becoming a teenager... nothing comes to mind as far as potential causes go.

I don't know why I have these desires and I do kinda think I would be happier without them but oh well. 🤷🏻‍♀️

if you loosen the terms i am pretty sure 99 % of world population is pain suffering, just think of all the people who have to go to work everyday, to school, to study, to hospital etc, less than 1 percent is not pain suffering and the rest of 1 percent is probably pain delivering.

Pain is the only thing that makes me feel euphoric

Ones brain perceives unidentifiable sensations as pain, as this is the default uninterpreted sensation all others are built out of when identified.

As such pain can very easily become any sensation you want it to, and the brain will tend towards interpreting it as any sensation one has been missing a lot of.

Thus it becomes an easy way to seek mental equilibrium, without necessarily having to track every emotion ones brain experiences and in what quantities every day.

Why not ask them? Maybe then you can find out.

Depends on if it is regular pain and suffering, or SEXY pain and suffering.

There are A LOT of people into the latter one. :SafeForWork:

Is it for similar reasons to how anyone can develop a foot fetish with the slightest nudge in that direction? In your opinion.

Just kinky people doing kinky things.
This @OP we're 8 billion humans on this planet there are many type of people out there. Personally I don't understand the logic behind both sadistic people & masochist people, same applies to gambling or purchasing gamble boxes / loot boxes or gacha / pachinko stuff.

Some people are built wrong

Is it something intrinsic, or even a choice people make, or something that winds up happening?

Is it 'wrong,' or divergent from the norm, or just different?

I don't get it. I'm pretty sure when you feel pain you want it stop, not go on.

As I sort of said earlier, the brain tends to 'guess' what it's experiencing when it feels pain. So if there's an emotional sector that's being neglected the brain will 'feel' it in response to pain.

And if you're used to feeling pain sometimes you don't notice the pain that triggered your neglected feelings.

So it feels good. Cathartic. Like a release.

Just like sex does.
