How can horses swim
Look at a horse and tell me that it has a sufficient body structure to be able to swim. It's legs are far too small to be able to push the water with enough force to be able to stay afloat with their huge size. Even humans struggle to swim and need to be taught.

Were horses born from the sea

If you put a horse in the sea, does it become a seahorse?

They're not specialized to swim of course. They are land animals after-all. However, they do look like they have the lung and stomach capacity to be highly buoyant though.

I don't know how seahorses swim though. They are literally sea creatures and they look even less capable of it than a real horse. Dang things look like they should sink down like a dart.

I think horses float because they are so full of air

humans can float in water.. but only on our backs and with the right technique..
its not how we normally move so an untrained person who tries to move their body to a standing position will sink.

horses due their massive lungs.. just float... they land feet first in water.. they will float even doing no movement...
whats more these lungs are such good buyancy that a horse on its back in water.. will rotate upright naturally.. by gravity.

now as it comes to swimming.. humans spend energy just staying afloat.. but our hands and feet are better suited to provide trust.. once you learned how..

horse legs are less suited.. but the horse spends 0 energy staying afloat... and has much more massive muscles to start with.. it helps the horse also that this "paddle" movement is very close to its natural trottling movement on land..

Horses have enough "horse sense" to stay calm in water and when you do you float all you have to do is move your limbs to move forward
Plus horses love water

They've got scoop-paddles for hooves.

What "sense" do I have, that makes me sink like a brick? I was moving my limbs
