Smartphones are being required as a point of access for more and more things these days.

Smartphones are already the Mark of the Beast according to some people. The irony of some of these people owning smartphones is not lost on me.

Personally I think any piece of tech with the word smart in the name is probably a very stupid thing to have. And I don't need to cite Revelations 1:3 or, as I more often wind up having to do, Thessalonians 5:2, to know that.

Sometimes that can be the case, as like anything else it's a tool and tools can be used for good or ill.

Maybe just research and look into what you're doing more?

Of course it also depends where you live too. In the US I see there's a lot of ability to get scams and data colleted from you, but in the EU not so much because of data protection laws.

Then they look for another employer who isn't too stupid to bear in mind not everyone has the same phone... Then again, it was in Japan where most people do tend to have an iPhone.

I believe I would look for a job elsewhere as well. I was issued an iPhone at one job I had so I didn't have to waste my time for my personal phone for work related calls. I didn't like it.

While there might be some reason as to why they want that (integration of systems for example) it is rather silly for most cases.

I've had some potential people come to ask me for stewarding work and make silly requests like needing a phone or a certain app, and I've pointed out how wrong they are.

Here in the UK when you're working with disabled people you got to provide equal rights of access.

For example, back in 2012 when Britain hosted the Olympics I got recommended to run a team of stewards for the Olympics and the ridiculous things they wanted was a reason I told them to get lost.

They wanted to run certain apps while asking for disabled stewards. I pointed out that how can you expect people like partially sighted people to use their app, and they went "ummmm.......". No answer, as they simply hadn't thought of it.

What was a kicker though, was the fact that they wanted us to work for them voluntarily and not only had nowhere to accommodate us but expected us to pay for hotels all while telling us they were fully booked.

Erm no. Just no, but that's another story.

Ofttimes people who ask for requests like certain mobile phone usage is a pretty clear sign to show they have no idea what they're asking for.

They coerce you into purchasing and downloading more and more control. All the while sending and receiving your data to make themselves even more money.
