Realism and pessimism are two different concepts that are often confused with each other.
You can look them up on the internet the difference between realism and pessimism. I just looked it up on the internet. This is what the internet says...
Pessimism is a negative outlook on life, while realism is more about accepting the truth and being objective. A realist sees things the way they are, without any bias or judgement.
Do not confuse realism with pessimism.
So you're saying that people cannot be logical and pragmatic in life? People cannot look at both the pros and cons of things and make informed decisions based on the information they have?
i don't think any is better than the other.
optimism lightens the person. hope.
realism grounds the person on "here" and "now".
pessimism is the art of observing a donut and only seeing the hole in the middle. it happens.
I'm saying calling yourself a realist is saying your opinions are fact, which every kindergartner can tell you is not true.
This is not true, calling yourself a realist is saying you try to be logical and pragmatic in life and make informed decisions based on the information you have.
Also it is not saying opinions are fact.
Example: Driving allows me to be more independent, and I can travel to places with it and can go places with it, but there is also a chance that I will get in a car accident.
This is a FACT! From here you can make informed decisions.
You can decide that it is worth it to learn to drive, or you can decide that it is too risky and choose to not learn to drive.
There is such thing as realism, and again, if you don't believe me, look it up on the internet.
Optimist spotted...
I just know my opinion isn't fact.
Is it a friend or a foe?
"Always prepare for and expect the worst, and you will never be disappointed again!"
Nah, if you would be then you wouldn't bring little Devsman into this p.o.s. of a world :P
Foe :P
Well the realism reminds me to never forget reality and where I started from + to handle situations as they truly are, meanwhile the optimism keeps me going, encouraging me to be determined in hard storms and strive to accomplish more overall I guess.
p.s Hope this statement was somewhat useful to you lmao
This is the only viable outlook as optimism is a life affirming mode of being.
