People are not purchasing EVs at the rate desired by the government.
Electric cars and trucks are piling up on dealer lots, causing auto companies to reassess their investment plans. General Motors recently had to buy out almost half of the Buick dealerships nationwide as they refused to re-tool their service departments for EVs.

Ford Motor Company faced similar issues as almost half of Ford dealerships said that they do not want to sell electric vehicles. The flagship Ford F-100 Lighting is not selling and the CEO said that trying to drive an F-150 cross-country forced him to experience a reality check as they are just not selling.

Like wind and solar power the advertising (propaganda) has far out stretched the actual capabilities of these so called "Green" products.

I'll be building an electric skateboard soon for local commuting. It shouldn't even cost me more than $300 either and be able of reaching city speed limits with more than enough range for what I need on a daily basis. I wonder if the people trying to sell you $40,000 EVs hate the idea of people using these cheaper solutions?

1 Mop-bucket. 60 dollars
Umbrella 5 dollars
Electric Blower 50 dollars.

The look on your dates face when you told her you owned an electric vehicle and go to pick her up in a mop-bucket....priceless.

EV's are only a fad right now because they put the cart before the horse and produced EV's before the entire country could have charging points put in place first. right now only a few place have EV charging points and those are few and far between in less densely built up places and the use for those charging points if they exist remotely along highways will be packed with users of EV cars waiting to get back on the roads, which could take a while. some roads may never get the attention for EV charging points because they are so remote or greatly inaccessible to put one down.

it would have been better to keep hybrid vehicles for the foreseeable future and then built EV's when everyone was ready for them. Musk jumped ahead of that queue to make his money in Tesla before anyone was really ready for them.

Need a huge dedicated road system for ebikes too. Replace 1 lane on all streets dedicated to them make cars second class citizens. If all cities made it more difficult to do car than a etrike or pev you'd make a lot of converts.
North American Cities are not designed properly.

The government doesn't even do what the government suggests.

So why the hell should regular people? :MMForFun:

EVs can't be "FORCED" to market when they are a step BACKWARD compared to gas and diesel and hybrid vehicles. The market will buy what the market wants regardless of what the government wants us "plebs" to buy.

Haven't bought a new car since 2010. Even then. It was a second hand kia grand carnival 2008 model. Due to need more seats with expanding family not fitting in the second hand Toyota corolla.

I don't see second hand EVs available anywhere and even if there was I wouldn't buy one.

And I push bike the 3kms to work each day.

The technology is not there when it comes to making electric sustainable. You need to get to a point where solar and wind can be used to produce the components and machinery needed to capture it. As in, remove coal, crude and communists from the process.

You might also want to consider incentivizing people to install home solar. But the powers that be won't because that will cut into their bottom line.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ money worshippers, I swear. The childer of Moloch are such tiresome ♥♥♥♥♥.

Think about this for a moment. You bought a second hand Kia in 2010. You haven't bought a car since. The people making EVs hate people like you, because they haven't made any money off of you. If you don't buy a new car in 20 years, or buy used, they don't get their money. EVs destroy the entire concept of used vehicles, because nobody is going to buy a used car that will cost $20,000 to replace the battery pack when a new model is that price or close to it. Hence, the reason auto makers are the ones who want us on EVs, to get rid of people like you who don't give them money.

I refuse to buy knew as well, screw em.

EVs will become more common sooner or later because gas will be getting far more expensive and there is no way to stop that.

Since fossil fuels aren't renewable and experts estimate that we'll run out of them during this century. Fossil fuel prices will keep increasing because a larger portion of the fossil fuels will be reserved for critical infrastructure and the government structures and what will be left for consumers is a small supply. When supply is small and demand is high, prices skyrocket.

So the transformation will inevitably happen. Not only that but EVs will come down in prices significantly. They started somewhere around $50k, now the cheapest ones start at $19k and based on forecasts we'll be soon looking at a situation where you can get an EV for $10-15k.

PS. The $20k battery replacement claim only applies to the most expensive EVs, you're looking at few thousand when it comes to cheaper EVs. Not that they need to be changed that often either.
