I absolutely adore the Stone Roses.
Not just because of being in Manchester studying audio engineering in the whole early 90 "Madchester" era, but because they're music is just sublime.
I missed them at Spike Island back in the day, due to a then girlfriend. So when they reformed I jumped at getting tickets to Heaton Park. They were brilliant and everything I'd hoped.
Anyway, that's all really interesting, thanks.
Yeah I find Discogs REALLY good. Of course the first thing is info - as it's great source of documenting in great detail different releases, mixes, and so on. I've learned of curiosities I never knew existed many times.
But also as a store or marketplace it's been fantastic. I've yet to have anything less than steelar experience on there, but I guess your mileage may vary depending where in the world you are or how lucky you get.
Anyway, Record Collector is a fantastic magazine if you can ever track it down. It looks like absolute ♥♥♥♥ and is presented like a fansize made in the 1980s. But it has TONS of adverts in them from actual record shops around the world, which I find invaluable.
As well as their articles of course.
Best of luck.
There are a ton of bands not listed that have excellent music.
Well I'm sure I've listened to most british bands he listed, and you'd potentially list for that matter, and I stand by what I said. Ignorance is having an uneducated opinion, he was trying to say I'm ignorant for not agreeing that those bands are good. In my eyes they simply aren't.
You don't understnad the grammar.
I'll explain it again - you can have an ignorant opinion but not BE ignorant. That's what I said.
I said that if you didn't know more than two groups it was unusual and ignorant.
And ignorant is NOT a slur by itself. I don't know why you're getting defensive. I'm ignorant about a load of things.
After I posted my initial post, I actually went to my shelves of CDs and have been going through them the last few night. It's been great as I've touched CDs I haven't touched in ages.
And one of the artists I completely missed was Bjork - her first two "proper" (yes I know she did some as a girl) albums were fantastic.
I personally love the Homogenic album. It's a real ground-breaker as she went to work with Jes from LFO, and I loved how she blended classical quartets with beats and her own distinct writing style.
The first half of that album especially is sublime.
And you were told multiple times that I know more than 2 bands, but there are only 2 bands that I would consider "good". It's been explained numerous times.
Only afterwards.
The point you demonstrated you either didn't understnad through language or something or were simply wrong.
Because your original claim was "Biritain has bands?" I tackled THAT claim.
I lsited loads of well known ones from the pile of CDs next to me. YOu then tried to dishonestly dodge by claiming outrage at me using the word ignorant, tried to say that I claimed you LIKED certain groups when I never brought that up and more.
Please stick to the point and stop trying to invent things that aren't there.
Your list was in reply to my "there are only 2 good British bands" post. Again the question was not who is it is not well known, most British bands are not good.
There was nothing in those three words to say that. YOu can keep wriggling and making excuses but I'm done. Just because you don't understand some words and basic grammar and so on is a you problem. I'm sorry.
For me I've always amassed stuff and never sell it because I'm careful with what I buy. I always know myself enough to buy stuff I know I'm going to enjoy for years.
Plus I'm disabled and housebound so I kind of catered for that. So I have thousands of CDs and records as well as all my games and books. It does get trciky to store them though, especially as I only live in a small house.
Why I went back was simply that having thousands of CDs, even if you have them neatly stored can still mean you overlook them regularly. So I carefully went through and picked up stuff I hadn't touched in years. It was great.
