Naturally, dependable on the genre of the videogame.
I have been playing videogames since I was four.. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas in particular.
Guess what.. I have managed to learn the alphabet before going to school, as typing the cheat codes has involved reading what do they do and typing the same codes over and over again..
I do remember a lot of those codes even to this day.
It does depend on the parenting and how do the children can behave and how well gifted they are.. There's no age that tells you what should and shouldn't be done, if you ask me.
It's all up to the child and the child's parents anyway.
At that age, you would have learned even more had most of the cheat codes not been complete gibberish, all because the way they stored them made it possible to use dozens of different letter combinations for the same cheat, which is what the community ended up discovering.
Many years later, the actual codes leaked, but not even an official list in form of a manual or magazine article? Come on. You could've taught writing actual words too!
if I had a kid I try to get him to not play the realistic and violent games , These days gores in video games is way much more detailed then what we had when we where kids back in the 90's.
What games are you thinking of? Resident Evil? Outlast? Silent Hill?
old arcade mortal kombat 1 to 3 where a joke compared to the newer mortal kombat 11 and 1 level of violence and gores.
Whenever they show interest in them... Restricting videogames for them just does not make sense...
Kids are not stupid, some adults forget this...
Red boxes instead of what looks like a blood is a huge difference.. At least to me.
Well, there weren't many other games back in the day.
Maybe Quake III Arena or OpenArena?.. Those did come a bit later, though..
I don't remember anything specific, so I can't really provide any related answer.. It's just that I have found that little detail somewhat interesting, and perhaps somewhat surprising, especially to the current younger generation..
So must get a job first.
Child labor stimulus!
No worries children can be underpaid since they are small and can't do as much in theory.
Everyone is different and does life at different paces... there's no one age for video games.
This post is low effort thinking.
