What RTS is the best ever?

For me the best i ever played is Starcraft, no doubt. Works great even today and it is free too (optional paid remastered version which is great too). I played it since like early 2000s and spent hundreds of hours playing with friends (yeah not that much i know but almost every minute was great). I wonder if it will ever come to Steam now that Blizzard came here? Starcraft 2 is pretty good as well but not nearly as well made and competitive (in a good way) as the first.

I've only played two for any noteworthy amount of time: Kessen and Kessen III. 3 was too hard for me to finish, but at least I didn't just do something else completely while still the game kicked its own ass for my viewing pleasure like in 1. So 3 was probably the better game.

You are.
Its just another interface, with lots of more layers above.

Its a native client app built over a web browser that acts as a proxy to Usenet.

It all runs on some dude's personal server, at his mother's attic. There is just a lot of cacheing involved.
