Nvidia CPUs?
So, Nvidia makes CPUs now?

https://youtu.be/It9D08W8Z7o

Only for servers and only ARM through (despite their failed ARM purchase), probably costing an arm and a leg to get one. But this leaves me with so many questions.

Why are they even bothering with ARM though? Why not skip directly to RISC-V?
Also, NVLink gets removed from GPUs, but gets put on CPUs?
And they are making a big gamble on fully-integrated server farms despite their Linux support being traditionally arse compared to Intel, AMD and IBM.

Plus, their system being highly integrated, with next to no upgrade and repair paths for server owners, makes them not very sustainable!

What is Nvidia doing here?

It's simply so they don't have to spend an extra $0.15 per chip on Skynet.

So, it doesn't have to make any sense to consumers, because it's subsidised by tax-payer money?

Nvidia has been making ARM based CPUs for a long time now, since 2008. Not really anything new, just the way it is being used.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tegra

This is ignoring the fact that a GPU has a CPU on-board to begin with, just dedicated to graphics.

Welp. Now we know what Nintendo will use for their next console :MillaThink:

(I’m just talking out of my ass here, don’t mind me.)

Ah, yes. I totally forgot about the Tegra line. They tried their luck on the mobile market with that, but outside the Switch and embedded devices, they have not found much adaption.
Still makes me wonder why they are entering the server market just now and with such highly-integrated solutions.

That's my view of it, yes.

We'll have to wait and see what spokesperson Nvidia picks for the new chip to see if they're also dipping into the ESG/EDI pool of government funding.
oh nice another 50 billion in debt that nvidias not going to have to payback, just add it to the 30 trillion tab

I don't think Nvidia will make PC's CPU that will work well with their graphics card.

Because if they do that, people will realize they are buying broken parts of an overpriced console just to piece them together.

By selling just a graphics card "booster", they have made trillions. People are more willing to buy upgrades after they got their main motherboard (which is not nvidia). It's a business strategy in DLC / lootbox / free to play games - overpriced upgrades.
They've made more money off A.l. and cryptocurrency than gaming in modern times. Not to mention other professional and enterprise workloads.
