"newer hardware is better than old hardware" you can just wait for 6000 or 7000 series tbf. get new gpu based on how soon you need it, and how much better do you want your games to look

I am at this point. I was thinking about getting a 4,000 series but then saw all the fire connection issues and I was already on the fence anyways. Going to stick with my RTX 2080 Super for a little longer. 5000 series may actually be double the performance if rumors are true. I wish they weren't so huge now though. Thankfully my case can fit a 4090 if I wanted to, but I don't want to. 5000 better get smaller or at least not get any bigger

I wouldn't worry about upgrading until you start seeing dramatic decline in your gaming performance. Considering the cost of all the cards lately, you might want to start saving up for one now.
