For what they are measuring, very. But they are not measuring what people think. MENSA is full of bonafide idiots that are really good at word association or pattern recognition.

As far as decline, the original formulation did since it was originally a ratio of 'age level you performed at' / 'your age', so as the divisor rose, the score dropped. I'm pretty sure any legit test now is instead evaluating your score against the scores of similar ages.

But my psychometrics training is like 15 years old now, so take this with a grain of salt.

I remember someone once told me that intelligence was the ability to learn new concepts while wisdom was the ability to apply or get practical use from what one had learned or experienced in life.

my intelligence is outside of the IQ's computational capabilities. I scored 76 on my aptitude test and over 110 on my general technical test. also, passed my highschool exit exams in my freshmen year.

never really did an actual IQ test before, but most human graders say im low IQ

Seriously, why do you give two ♥♥♥♥♥ about the Intelligence quotient? The IQ has to be one of the most misunderstood things out there.
There is very little correlation between high IQ and performance in a job or school. The Intelligence quotient is also fluctuating. It is not fixed through out your life time.

The IQ test is given to people to evaluate cognitive function in a person and it does not really play all that big of a part in that.

You all really should have a better understanding of what IQ is and what it is used for. While I have not read every post in this thread, I have read enough to show that the vast majority of you really have no clue what the ♥♥♥♥ you're talking about.

because often times really dumb people have below 100 iq and so while the higher end may not be the best indication of social functionality... low iq is certainly a good indication of the lack thereof.
granted, I do advocate for not dehumanizing humans and this does, in fact, dehumanize people as less then others so this is indeed a hypocritical thought and ultimately I then agree and side with your context.
