Every website that offers you sign-in through 'the link', not by manually typing your id and password), is safe, and that site is one of them.

look at the first bullet point

Note that some phishing websites could mimic the webpage, but they will insist that you type in your id and password (even though you are logged in on Steam in your browser), that's the difference basically.

Unrelated to safety, only use this site to identify scammers, it could easily be considered immoral otherwise. Stalkers love that website due to how much historical data it provides.

once you make things public like avatar pictures, you cant blame no one else of stalker
i mean no, steamid has been involved in breaches and account theft before, and the uk site's response to the breach announcement suggested they had known about (and exploited) the vulnerbaility for some time.

valve's british owners have decided to certify it as trustworthy though.

it's like if goonswarm got people hired by frontier, and ceritifed the EVE market tracker as safe. instead of spyware they use to track independent corvette salesmen and manipulate the larger galactic market through information.

In future if a site asks you to log in via steam, open a new page and log into this address first using the same browser:

https://store.steampowered.com/login/

Once logged in refresh the page that is asking you to login via steam using f5 (again this must be on the same browser). If it is a legit page it will ask you to confirm the correct account is logging in by clicking a button, and not ask you to put your details in again...

If after you refresh the site page still asks for your login details then it is not legit.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
