This is great. Airlines could charge more for the tall saddle seats and put the economy seat customers in the gas firing range seats. Win - Win - Win

I think the most ideal airline passenger travel accommodation should be stacked morgue drawers/mortuary cabinets. Put the travelers to sleep, slide them into their drawer, have staff watch vitals. Simple & efficient. Wake up at your destination without typical airline discomfort, smells, noises, etc.

Imagine the guy in the 2 middle seats flanked by 2 large persons

A fifteen hour flight is gonna suck no matter what you do. Listen to music, sleep, watch three movies, snd still have six hours left of pain. First class helps, but the duration is the overriding variable. Nothing can change it either - except for edge of space fast travel.

The huge downsides are:

1) Where my luggage gonna go??
2a) I am going to sit in the top seat and the person underneath me is really going to hate being farted on for 12h all the way to San Francisco
2b) I think it's flight nerves combined with the cabin pressure but damn do I get a lot of gas when I'm on a long flight. Smells pretty bad too. RIP lower seat guy

Probably decreases the chance of survival in a crash, more metal and debre can already see people getting trapped.

1) When was the last time your plane didn't run out of overhead space anyway?
2a) Downside? That's literally what makes it fun.
