How can I survive and prepare for an alien invasion?

Due to an increasing feeling of an invasion, I need to know what to do in this catastrophic event of monstrous extraterrestrials attacking our world. I'll give out a few potential scenarios that I'd like to get help for

Airborne/Flying Saucer invasion- Classic B-Movie sort of scenario where giant spaceships aim to destroy major cities. Will be difficult for people living in urban areas

Terrestrial/Wellsian invasion- War of The Worlds-esque scenario where aliens piloting giant walking machines attack and harvest humans. Hiding from the machines is the only solution

Secret/Imposter invasion- Aliens either parasites, replicators, or disguised as humans conspiring against us. Difficult for me since it would be hard to know who's who

Any advice for these scenarios is requested!

If there's one thing XCOM has taught me, there's always a bigger fish out there, and usually humanity does just fine killing itself during the invasion anyways (For those that know the original XCOM lore, you know what I mean)

Step 1: Buy some stuff
Step 2: Aliens never arrive
Step 3: Survive anyway
Step 4: Wish you hadn't wasted all that cash
Step 5: Get a new job and raise a happy family
Step 6: ???
Step 7: Get invaded by aliens when you least expect it

That's why I'd try to stay away from warzones and flee to safer areas

Just hope they are friendly like Superman/Supergirl and not hostile like "Aliens" and "Predators".

If it's a ground attack, then playing dead is a big risk since they probably have heat vision devices in their machines

I'm not sure but I think the human body is still "hot" for some hours or minutes after death.

Anyway, I don't think humans pose a serious threat to them so I doubt they would kill people.
