yeah if game devs leave then players/modders will take things into their own hands... not to mention business-minded individuals will see a completely untouched market.. yeah this "strike" or whatever wouldn't last long

It's fine, thanks to games like Skyrim that you can keep playing indefinitely as long as you want and games like Sonic 1, Golden Axe 1, Super Castlevania 4 and many many more that are always good and enjoyable no matter how many timeswyou have already played them.
Games into two different launchers + emulators. Players and modders (communities) will take it from there. Games to the gamers. But as a job and specially with mad crunch it should be appreciated.
