30 Fps is fine for gaming?
Do you consider 30fps(stable) as playable and enjoyable?

if it slow paced like resident evil, sure. if it fast paced like doom, or if it a competitive game like csgo, no.
What about games like red dead and gta v or rpgs like skyrim and fallout new vegas?

i can't tell because i never play all of those (even gta 5). but sometimes, consistency is better than how high frame rates can be. in fps, high fps is better because it's more natural.

It also comes down if you play with a joypad/controller or with mouse. A framerate below 60 is way more noticeable with a mouse

Depends entirely on the game.

If it's a slower paced game, or a strategy game like Civilization it's OK. If it's something that demands faster input like an arcade game, or an FPS, no.

Yeah, it sure is playable and enjoyable. I still play games on my old 360, those games in general are 30fps. I also gamed on a potato laptop for years, most games that were heavy for it even were under 30fps, I think. Enjoyed playing those games, though.

that's true. btw i play re4 on 30 fps cap because 60 fps can slow down the game. and i actually like it. playing with controller can make the game feels natural but i play it on mouse. i can feel the jaggery but i don't mind because the gameplay make me ignore it

I think 30fps is plenty good enough... for Sudoku and Solitaire. It might be pushing it for Minesweeper though.

A lot of console games like someone else said are about 30 fps I think and they're still plenty fun. Honestly, I can hardly feel the difference between 30 and 60 fps unless I play one right after the other
You notice the difference especially when you turn the camera

60 fps feels noticeable if you are up close and use mouse. but idk if someone can tell the difference with gyro. since gyro is basically controller's mouse

Im so used to playing 100-144 that even 60 feels rough for me if im being honest. I went back to play bloodborne on ps4 and it was so jittery at 30 fps. idk, I enjoy high FPS, and am far more of an FPS snob than a graphics snob. I dont need 4k ultra RT to enjoy the game, but on 144Hz panels, 80-100 is about as low as I really want.

It's fine. If given the option I'll pick higher framerates but 30's perfectly acceptable.

I grew up playing VIC-20 and DOS games and framerates in some games often reached single digits and even then I had fun.

Even during the PS2 era I enjoyed games that were running at 25 FPS (because PAL) and I still didn't mind the framerate.

Yeah, if you play at higher frame rates you immediately know it. And there's ALWAYS people who claim they play games at 120fps+ and don't see a difference only to find out they have a 60hz monitor meaning it is incapable of displaying more than 60 at a time. I was playing a racing game this evening at a locked 60fps on a console, then the PC version with no frame rate cap at a full 165. There's no comparison, 60fps looks like motion blur by comparison.

It should be mentioned that there is another problem here.

60 fps is obviously smooth and as another person said, you can easily tell when you move the camera. Which brings me to the issue - motion sickness.

Some games that tend to drop down on framerate have a tendency to cause motion sickness. There's one game that's guaranteed to cause me problems and I've never completed it - Marathon Durandal on the Xbox 360.

For whatever reason I throw up after two levels of that. Granted it isn't an exact science and what makes one person's stomach turn it won't for another. But one thing does seem to be sure, the lower the framerate the more chance of it happening.
