snes is better than sega genesis.
the snes is just superior, the sound is better, the graphics are better, the games are better, the controllers are better. can the genesis handle 3D graphics? i dont think so. nintendoes what genesis dont.

"While the Sega Genesis had a CPU advantage — leading to the "Blast Processing" ad campaign — the SNES outclassed Sega in terms of power. Without getting too much into numbers, the SNES could produce more colors on the screen at once. Sprites could be bigger, and it could produce a higher resolution. In short, games looked and ran better on the SNES compared to the Genesis, and it was noticeable." -GameRant

heres some 3D games that the genesis cant handle:

and heres some bonus footage of the snes being superior to the sega genesis:

snes is worth having for sf2 turbo alone imo

I would much rather have a 6 button controller for Street Fighter stuff though. I still play Street Fight 5 with a 6-button Genesis controller.

Joystick? I find the genesis buttons a bit spongy but there's probably like 20 different versions

but yeah the L and R buttons on snes are a bit inconvenient for fighting games

honestly when I play again Gamecube games very often their graphics look disappointing imo while when I play certain PS2 games (expecially Soul Calibur 3 and Kingdom Hearts 2) I am een more amazed by how incredibly good they look, even more amazed than what I was back then.
I haven't seen any XBox game look that good - but this might be because I never liked very much any XBox game so I know less about them and I'm less inclined to appreciate anything about them but when I see graphics from XBox and Gamecube today often imo it looks underwhelming but while the PS2 instead look incredible with some games.
Back then I remember that I thought that the PS2 looked worse and I don't know why. Maybe it was because I was influenced by what other people said online, or maybe it was just that on the Gamecube I had a better cable and ws unable to find an equally good cable for the PS2 maybe, so it looked worse because of that?

If you forget how you remember it and look at them objectively, it's clear the Xbox is the more powerful system, followed by Gamecube and last place is PS2. A good way to compare is to look at multiplatform games, or games where the same thing released on all three systems.

Spiderman 2 for example:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7j_Kvju_5Ig
I remember reading in a magazine saying the PS2 version of that game was "beaten with the ugly stick" while the Gamecube version was "lightly grazed by it". In this example you can certainly see the limitations in the draw distance when it comes to details of the buildings.

Something I recall people often complained about with the PS2 were the "jaggies". Reportedly, the PS2 lacked any kind of anti-aliasing capabilities.

Indeed, but it can improve issues where the TVs native scaler isn't so good, and heaven knows things like that often get cheapned on TVs.

Yeah, they're cheap, and the big problem with that is they induce a lot of display lag, meaning it takes a noticeable amount of time between you pushing a button, and seeing that intended action occur on screen. You may have already ran off the edge in a game before you actually hit the jump button. Emulation adds a small amount of lag too, but it's usually not even noticeable, and in most cases if you add a couple frames of run-ahead mode, it eliminates it completely. It's also only an issue on older analog home consoles. Later consoles like PS2/Gamecube era, or handhelds aren't really subject to it.
While this is indeed true, your mileage varies though in practice.

It should be noted that this is an issue but not held as a hard and fast rule.

As I have consoles since the start of it all and have kept them, I play them all. I have a CRT but I rarely use it, prefering to use a normal modern LCD TV for the most part. I have yet to have an issue that's noticeable yet.

Whoa, whoa.
How did Xbox and Playstation and so on get involved in this?

This was about Genesis and SNES only.

I mean, if you want to do a Sony vs. Microsoft vs. Nintendo thing, go start your own thread for it. It's kinda rude to hijack a thread.

This is how discussions work.

You know conversations are fluid right? Go look at ANY thread that has several pages on here and you'll see the same. That's just how it works.

It's almost like topics can be related to outside topics or something

Yeah, how dare they prefer a library that isn't just lesser quality demakes of arcade stuff, but original content.

You know the gaming community is sick when folks try to resurrect 30-year-old rivalries.

I personally have more of an attachment to the super nintendo. I didn't grow up in the 90s, but I do enjoy the SNES library on NSO more than the SG one by a longshot.

That and Sonic never appealed to me at all. I honestly don't know why.

The fact that Mega Drive games are available for purchase too and not only locked behind that horrible, offensive subvscription paywall scam would be enough to prefer them.
(but also imo most of them just ARE better anyway)

That's only because Sega failed as a console and doesn't have their own hardware to put them on anymore.

Besides those retro Genesis console machines I've seen in Walmart, that have Genesis games built in them?
