In case you haven't heard the creator and guy who voices both Rick and Morty has just been cancelled for domestic abuse, yes in true modern fashion he is immediately considered guilty and his life is destroyed accordingly. Apparently they are simply going to recast the voice actors and keep the show going, but do you think anyone will want to watch it now? I feel like this will destroy the franchise completely.

Not my kind of humor, but it is disturbing that simply being accused of something is enough to get you cancelled or banned.

If he had stayed on the show while the trial or investigation was ongoing, would anyone have cared ? only activists probably, but not the viewers.

Don't sound like trivial things to me.

I am all for people being innocent until proven guilty but people in the public eye have to be squeaky clean. It is a wise precaution for the company to lay someone off until the outcome.

If he is innocent then he will be back. Until then it's the end of the show. But then he should have thought of that before he lost his temper or partnered up with a lying psycho.

I wish him the best of luck but I don't hold out much hope.

Yes but those are just the accusations, it could be as simple as grabbing his partner by the arm = domestic violence. Stepping in front of her when she tries to storm out of the house = false imprisonment. They generally sound worse than they are when put like this in terms of charges, I highly doubt he was beating his partner to a pulp and locking her in a cage or something.

It's not the guilt or innocence that takes up time, it's the legal fight to prove one or the other that takes time.

Wasn't the series a slow release even before this? I can't imagine what it will be now given the legal issues.

Yeah it would generally take 1.5 - 2 years between seasons, not sure why the later few weren't very well written imo but I think they have mostly finished season 4 of Solar Opposites and part of season 7 of Rick and Morty so I don't know if they're going to release those as they are or maybe try and redo them with another voice actor or something? Seems like a huge waste of money to redo what's already finished.

I've seen too many politically motivated false accusations to take a knee jerk reaction to stuff like this. The truth is rarely the first thing reported. He says a lot of stuff certain groups might find offensive, so I can see possibility of accusations being weaponized to silence him. The precedent has already been set.

Will wait to see how this plays out. I don't watch R&M but I've seen High on Life and a youtuber I watch sometimes collaborated with him to do voice work.

To be fair he is definitely guilty of aggressively sexting underage girls but yes as far as the domestic abuse goes we have no idea if it's true, he hasn't even been in court yet and his life is already being destroyed.
