I was watching a furry culture documentary recently. Quite interesting and it wasn't what I expected. It's just a culture of people having fun with cosplay basically.

I did try to do an artwork of a furry character recently (Felicia from Dark Stalkers and some Pokémon). It's a lot harder than I thought.

No, it's not your poor English, it's your poor logic. Imagine a racial demographic saying that about themselves instead of "furries".
Something like : "Americans are usually more open-minded than non-Amaricans".

You might as well just post the full cringe of saying "I'm a supreme being!"

I get that you're trying to put distance between yourself and discriminatory people but this is the wrong way to do it and just comes across as arrogant. It might help if you can recognize for yourself, that you are an individual, you are not the entirety of your demographic; therefore, if there's a few people in the demographic who aren't really good people, it's not actually a reflection of you ...but that also doesn't mean that they're not real members of the demographic.

Anyone who tries to frame the fringe bad actors of a demographic as the entire demographic is prejudiced themselves. (This is a separate issue than commonality, which is "in the weeds" so to say...) Which seems to be what you're concerned about others doing with you but you don't need to try to change logic to flawed logic just to appease illogical intolerant people. Just get better at specifying the difference. As you said earlier in the topic : one's political views don't actually have any affect on their non-political demographics.
Well, it's the same thing with one's prejudices with their demographics and vice versa, one's demographics don't denote whether they're prejudiced (or discriminatory) or not.

In any broad group, whether that group is defined by skin color, nationality, sexuality, preferences, and so on, we'll find members of every other group except those excluded by its very nature.

Any demographic containing genes or inherent preferences can't have "membership" revoked because no one CAN be an authority to it. You can be a truth denier and claim that people who like the same things as you aren't real fans or members but your denial of them as part of the demographic doesn't actually change that person's preferences.

The ugly truth is that all significantly populated demographics have intolerant and discriminatory people among them.
...because they're just people, capable of the full range of human-behavior, whether good or bad.

If you can't admit that there's hateful prejudiced people in any demographic then you're not as open-minded as you think that you are. :seewhatyoudid:

consider the following: in order to be an admitted furry, you must first have a mind that's open enough to consider the possibility that you are one
a mind open enough to not consider it a disgusting trait as most of society would probably see it
a mind open enough to see past preconceptions about the furry fandom and such

it does make sense then that furries would tend to be more open-minded, as being a furry likely required them to be that way in the first place

i am not lying. the last time i lied it was in Covid crisis maybe older. i am very accurate. Good Furries are not very happy about furry community and they have a lot to say. i am waiting for one of them to tell us the truth.

We get to the point of "more : relative to what" ?

The implication in OP's statement seems to have been that they're most open-minded. That's not what they said but the lack of specification on what they're more open-minded relative to, suggests that they meant more open-minded relative to everyone else.
...and also that they supposedly can't be intolerant or discriminatory.
Which is where the point comes in...

The fact still remains that there are furries who are intolerant and discriminatory of various other demographics. In fact there was a couple of furries that came into the Deltarune hub chat and were spouting "you'll never be a real woman" at me.
(Nevermind the fact that I'm not trans but somehow they'd come to that impression.)

Canonizing a demongraphic is just as harmful as demonizing a demographic because the act of canonizing a demographic, consequently advocates to give that demographic, and each of it's individual members, special privilege from criticism.
"They're more open minded."
"If they do this then they shouldn't be allowed to freely express themselves as furries."

There's a lot of negative consequences that come from this kind of dogma and none of them are good for anyone. It certainly isn't the advocacy of human rights that the person canonizing was hoping to achieve, but rather the opposite. :seewhatyoudid:

op's post clearly implied that furries would be more likely to be open-minded than the average person, not that they'd be "the most open minded"

that doesn't mean all of them are, nor is it canonizing furries; it's simply acknowledging a lower likelihood of being a furry if you're close-minded about things that simply deviate from the norms that society imposes on us all

at most, it may be a way to reject certain people who harm others on the mere basis that they exist outside of the norm, with no genuine reason outside of that
