Social media is bad, but also miraculous

I hate social media as much as any of you, maybe more (probably more than the younger ones), but I must say that Instagram is just too useful.
Anytime I have problems of slow internet, even sometimes when it just don't work, I just load instagram and it always gets at least a bit better.
Sometimes it completely solve my issue, sometimes not completely but it usually make things better, almost always.
I'm not joking. This was even more effective a couple of years ago, now in most case the effect is not as great as it used to be but it is strill very noticeable.
It worked both on Windows and on Linux too.

Feel free to not believe me, I know it sounds nuts but this is basically the only reason why I still use social media at this point, when internet gives me troubles. It just woreks, what can I say?

I like social media; it's a quick way to catch up on friends/family and see what's happening everywhere. It is fast information where we can flick through anything that interests us.

I really hate these individuals who keep claiming they hate social media but they never stopped using them in the first place ,like yoo admit it... If you didnt like them at all you wouldnt use them AT ALL so stop lying to yourself

And these individuals who claim they hate phones but they clearly using it the entire time for anything except phone calls are even worse specially the old people who are like "iN mY tIMeS nO pHoNeS = BeTtEr TiMeS"
Then why the hell you using a phone right now??? I thought you said it was better without them

Hey there's no need to get sp worked up
I don't consider youtube a social media, there are many interesting videos, many people who use it in a good way and I like it a lot.
I despise the Twitter / Facebook type of service, made to encourage extremely quick, oversimplified and shallow interactions that you cannot even organize in a good way so you don't even have much control on what you are exposed to unless you spend all your day in front of it and you might still miss something but it would all be stupid useless crap anyway so there is no real problem.-

Youtube don't work like that, don't encourage this kind of crappy content so I'm fine with it.
According to your logic forums are social media too, definitely much more than youtube is, but I really like them.

Also I have a dumbphone and when I was younger and cellphones didn't exist there were phone boots everywhere and also most of the shops would have allowed you to use their phone if you really needed to and was an emergency.
Thoday public phone boots don't exist anymore and nobody except close friends would let you use their phone so people are forced to use cellphones, it's not a choice.
But there are people like me who still prefer and use dumbphones instead of smartphones.

I mean with youtube it depends on what you watch I think... If you watch vloggers for example I would argue that it is a social media. But for the other stuff its not no

Yeah manipulation with routering data packets to places that are under heavy UNWARRANTED surveillance is a good scam to increase bandwidth temporarily.

You mentioned linux.... the idea to increase your internet speed by fooling other computers into "believing" it's rudimentary basic internet traffic with no users at the steering wheel is another trick, but then you get jerks who just mess with you and you end up getting called a bot, both by the machine and the pieces of garbage that are trying to charge you more for a clean connection and faster speeds.

I don't know why all the mockery here, this is actually a known fact that Instagram boosts internet connection.

It uses a reverse proxy socket to increase your bit width. It's not like a better physical connection but the effect is often similar.
