If for some reason I am forced to play a game with a keyboard - and for some reason that I don't even understand I don't give up on it after a few minutes - I will look for an inventory icon to open it and if it's not present then I assume that there is no inventory, and if it's not present but the game does have an inventory, then I "assume" that I just don't want to play that game and think that I should have stopped playing it immediately when I saw that I couldn't play with a gamepad.
some games are very complex and need in-depth tutorials.
some developers make the tutorial room optional and so they go be sure people clicking the button to go there, are doing so because they NEED or WANT the help and advice in clear, concise packets.
Take your pick.
This is why tutorials exist. Keep smacking your face into the same wall until you get through it.
You do know not every game is not made with gamepad controls in mind right?
And at some point, some game out there is going to be someone's first game.
If a game forces me through a five minute long sequence to learn how to move, pan the camera, and equip a sword.... I'm out.
And it isn't even about it being someone's first game like Ferret said. You play these character based shooters and people be like, "Who do you main?"
Who do I main? There's only ~70 abilities in the whole game my dude.
Even if it is a good game?
I'll bite. If I know it's gonna be good.... I have no issue playing an opening sequence like in Skyrim. That is at least a storytelling experience.
In Stellaris, even just learning 1 or 2 keys on what they open can make things oh so much more less tedious.
