Yeah, I saw that, you are absolutely right. Serious thread. I know. Again. -sigh-

But seriously - talking about parenting.

What kind of a parent are you? Or what kind of a parent would you like to be?

How much time do you spend with your kid? Or kids? How much parents should spend with their kids?

Is it a more dog eat dog world (so to say) out there and kids will raise themselves and teachers and friends are there to do the most of the upbringing and parents are there just to look after the surroundings and happenings or what?

I'm an overly cautious parent. I'm lucky i'm financially stable (no need for a 9-to-5 job), so i can always keep an eye on my 2years old daughter. If i'm not around to look after her, she has to be with my wife. If both of us are not around, she has to be with her grandparents.

I also always try to keep handphones, tv, and computers away from my daughter (only use em to calm her during emergency, like during a flight). Me and my wife usually teach her everyday skills, and more importantly, good moral values through songs and books. I dont mind looking silly on public as long as shes laughing. Raising a kid can be physically exhausting but im blessed to have such a wondeful kid.

Both Fathers and Mothers offer their children something special, different strengths, respectively. Your story, Li77lehorn, demonstrates that quite well. Clearly, you’ve done a tremendous job and I can just imagine how you felt seeing him accomplish all of these things along the way.

I believe so strongly that we need to hear these stories more, not only Mothers raising their children well but Fathers too. We’re encased in a society where the expectation is that Men always fail, when that is not the case. Some Men -do- the right thing. Some Men -do- persevere and do whatever it takes to take care of and raise their kids the best way they know how.

Thank you. That was actually difficult for me to type as it was quite a traumatising beginning. But seeing him do everything independently now a great feeling. For example I took him skydiving with me when he was about 15yrs old, and not long ago he came home and I said "what have you been up to today?" and he just casually tells me he went skydiving again. It's hard to explain fully how that made me feel but it's a good thing.

i'd like to one day be the parent who just fills their child's head with useless facts and knowledge but fun ones that help them wanna learn to learn stuff. Really enjoy education and technology and not just for a job or to seem cool / smart.

Don't have kids yet but i do spend time around others as part of job(s) and child sitting for a lot of relatives. Most are pretty scared of me. Mostly b/c i don't smile around them. In a way it's good as most kids nowadays are spoiled af. And mothers are the #1 cause. Fathers are #4 next to grandparents. So having one dude who to them is like the grim reaper or IRS tax collectors is a good thing to have.

I'm the kind of parent that don't want kids because this world is so ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up I don't want them to grow in such a mess.

I believe there has been many in many generations who think and have thought alike. For me that is as good reason as any. No one should feel forced to do so. Not from society, culture, religion or relatives.

I don't want kids. I personally can't think of any reason to have kids - I don't desire to "further my bloodline" and I don't see what would be enjoyable about raising another human being up. I'm glad people of my generation are questioning the idea of having children, and questioning the traditional reasons people of the previous generation had children (while also criticizing their parenting).

Babies are cute. Kids are annoying. I think I'd like a cat instead.

I think and feel much alike. Never wanted kids. Never. Couldn't understand why it was and is so unacceptable. Some look me even as a loser in this game of life. I find that funny. I believe many generations have struggled with the decision of having children.

That is a common thought. I would bet that my dad thought pretty much the same at the time of my birth and during my childhood. I've always thought how he would have felt, if I had said in where he failed. But then again, what good would that have done? I believe he tried the best with the ability and knowledge he had.

I don't have any plans of becoming a parent. I was a very bad kid, and I want to save myself the headache, in case he or she inherit that trait.

But if I were a parent, I know what kind of parent I wouldn't be. I wouldn't punish my kid(s) with violence. 🌸
