Lots of anarchists, but I'm not sure about communes. I spent some time in Eugene, Or and there were quite a few hanging around the "hippy house" if you wanted a place to crash or some literature to read on. Its been a few years but back then they werent the type to turn away a traveler for a night. Good luck, and be careful if you go somewhere like slab city alone. Anything goes in those places. Its not all "Alexander Supertramp" like the movies Id think.

Commune as in just a community. Like a group of people, not like a communist sort of things. It could be if I was specifically involving anarcho-communism.

You got a point. Lack of property tax doesn't seem worth it without easy access to water, electricity, and law enforcement. They do seem to do well there though.
