Why do you think some PC gamers are so elitist?

It really makes me cringe when I see some kid go on and on about why PC gaming is so superior.

Even the K/M mouse kids are ridiculous.

I thought PC gaming was supposed to be a more mature crowd.

Maybe it's just that these people that are louder than the rest of us?

I also would like to add that playing on pc to me is more then just playing games. To me it's a hobby, and by hobby I mean building them, overclocking, and pushing the pc to its limits. Kinda like a car hobbyist would do to an engine. I cant build my console to the specs I like or overclock them. Consoles are great for people who just want to play games and don't care about upgrading hardware or worrying about if they can run a certain game. PC gaming is a hobby, its a lifestyle to take on building and learning about the hardware. Just something satisfying knowing you build that from the ground up.

Because biologically, physiologically, humans have adapted to a "safety in numbers" social environment, and also, "seek" to strive for maximising potential by competition with rivals.
Although there is no rivalry inherent between PC and Consoles, just as there's no inherent rivalry between black people & white people or men and women, it is simply another facet of ecuse to identify with one group and disassociate with other groups.

It's not eilitist to have pride in one or the other, nor to advcocate one is better. Really I think you just mean 'snobbery'. Elitism generally regards to ruling authrority and social leadership, intellect or power. Simply suggesting that a PC gamer or Console gamer is better than their counterpart is not elitism.

Maybe it's what they grow up on. My nephew is a pc gamer, 11 years old and I can already see the change. He doesn't want no part of a console gaming experience. I try to tell him, all these games you want that won't run on your pc, will run on a console.

He doesn't want any part of it. He is still pc when he can't run games he wants. I don't get it.

Isn't it weird? To think a gamer would restrict and limit themselves because of some weird belief that "I like X, X is superior, and you are wrong!" But as someone that gamed from all sides, I guess I am a special snowflake. I value my PC games, but I value my consoles as well. PC is top for wanting to play around with a game and try new things. Consoles are great when I want to put a game in, crash on the couch, and while away a dull afternoon without hassles.

Too bad his dad wasn't a gamer, maybe if he sat back on the couch playing some Halo he would get into it.

My dad, a former Marine, race car driver, mechanical engineer, and general hard ass used to walk into my room at 17 and say "I want to play the Smiley face game." And we would set up the SNES and pop in Super Faceball 2000 and co-op the game or hunt each other for a couple of hours. It is still a surreal time to me. The only time I have seen him this facinated over a game was when he and my mom came over and caught me in the middle of Red Dead Redemption, and as I rode to a save spot, I stopped to help a stagecoach getting robbed.

He now owns a 360, Red Dead, and for some reason Fallout 3. He won't talk about it. He won't accept my friend invites on LIVE. And yet, my mom says he plays them frequently, for a few hours a day.

I want to see what he is doing in both games!

But yeah. Getting a parent into gaming is awesome. On holidays, we still hook up the SNES and play a few silly games. My dad is a beast at Faceball 2000

There are elitists everywhere, in every hobby and and every subculture. Heck, there are even brony elitists.
The reason is they want to feel supperiour. Why? It depends on a person.

Because those particular PC users just got into PC gaming after getting scammed for a decade by Microsoft so the brag on that silly sub-reddit and the internet. Nothing to be worried just laugh at them.
