Why can't we message people who aren't on our friends list.

For instance, that guy that really grinded my gears in the game I just played. Who I would really love to give a piece of my mind but I can't, because Steam won't allow me. I don't see why people think that Steam regulating who we can and can't talk to is acceptable. If his profile is not private, I should be able to message him whenever I please.

That would be harassment; besides, would you enjoy being attacked by people because you did something to piss them off? I'm glad we can't message people who aren't on our friends list. It would be a mess if we could.

Actually, some people have it set up co you can contact them on their profile page. They also have the ability to delete your comments and block you.

As for direct messaging whenever you want, thank goodness we can't do that.
