I prefer the term "Poofy Tailed Pipe Cleaner" Thank you.
Nice to meet you dinner!
Should I warm up the fava beans and make some rice?
Nah, that's Satanic Food, OP's Dad won't approve of that.
I have always been one to abhor those who judge on someones looks. That's why I made this my profile picture and I have made more with blood coming from my eyes just due to the fact that some people said I would be a school shooter just cuz of my looks when I was wearing a hoodie in an old photo. That is why I took things one step further, but I digress.
The reason why I bring up the picture though is because I know a lot of bands do the same thing. People are judging them for their image and sound so they feed into it because at heart, they know who they are, while people looking from the outside know very little about them. My Ma has said the same to me about the bands I listen to. Not realizing she is being naive. She is a huge fan of all the old 70's and 80's Metal bands and she used to complain to me about how her mother would call the bands she liked Satanic. See the hypocrisy? She even called a Christian band I listen to Satanic (Fit For A King).
Here is my findings on the band. I have done some research on Meshuggah and I haven't found anything Satanic about them. Tomas Haake, the drummer, said the song was originaly going to be called "Aneurysm."
"That's what it's about," said Haake. "An aneurysm in your head killing you, and how you're transformed from a living being into dying. It's written in a lot of metaphors."
Last time I checked, having an aneurysm isn't satanic but a severe medical issue. As for the depictions in the video, it looks to me that it is supposed to be metaphorical look of a man fighting his own inner demons. Last time I checked, Satanists welcome demons with open arms.
In the end, your father will think what he thinks. You may even bring forth undeniable proof that they are not but he could stay set in his ways. So I suggest you don't let it bring you down. Keep you head up. Cuz you know the truth. Don't let other peoples fear of the unknown influence your decisions.
I'm also lowkey sad that the day I dont look at the forums someone talks about one of my favourite bands.
But yeah, there's that. Its not music for everyone, its expressive and fairly technical / boundary-pushing.
