I'm still wondering why golf is even considered a sport.

well i'm not really sure where the "Masters club" is.... but if you have ever been there, it is VERY hard to get into. very expensive. personaly I think the masters need to have a Small zoo in it. showing off squires and other common wild life that is not allowd to be on the golf corce.

i dont look at golf as something i would do. but those turniments bring a lot money into akron, ohio's local ecconomy. tourisum and what not.

Golf is not a sport, Golf is an event. A sport is when you compete against someone where that someone's skill can have an effect on your performance. An event is when you do something by yourself, just with others around.

Bowling is an event. Golf is an event. No other person is pitting their skill against yours to stop you, slow you down, cause them to win and you to fail. Playing golf, Bowling, etc ONLY involves your abilities.

Something like baseball, soccer, football, etc are sports. An opponents skill can determine your performance. There are "sports" that have lesser opponent participation like auto racing, horse racing, etc which do have a factor with an opponent that affects your performance, just not as much as the regular sports.

But you can't call something where you aren't affecting someone elses ability a sport, its something else. An event, a match, what ever. Much of the olympic games are events, not sports. No one elses skill will affect yours in Javelin, Shot put, diving, swimming, sprinting, long jump, high jump, etc all that is based solely on YOUR skill and ability, even though there might be others on the track, their performance doesn't affect your performance. Gymnastics, etc. The skill of another gymnist isn't going to make you jump higher, jump further, make your landings better, swim faster, you get the idea.

So me, I personally laugh at when people call Golf a sport. It will become a sport when they change it to that beer commercial full-contact golf where you combine Golf and Football lol.

Nah, lots of not-rich guys play golf.

Truth is, when you grow up you'll find out that it's a good way to make contacts that can eventually lead to you becoming a "rich" guy.
