What video game console has the dumbest name in your opinion?

For me it's the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. If you didn't know what Nintendo was you'd think it was some sort of high-end luxury vehicle infotainment system. Dishonourable mention to the X-Box Series X or whatever.

Game Cube is the best named console.

Officially, yes, they didn't want dumb grandparents thinking the Xbox 2 was competing with the Playstation 2, was the reason they didn't name it Xbox 2.

But really, they should have come up with something better than just pulling a random-ass number that happens to have significance in some completely unrelated context. Hell, they accidentally implied it only supports 360p resolution, lol.

Not to mention naming the next system as if it were competing with the Playstation ONE.

The only explanation is that counting wrong is just Microsoft's gimmick these days.

As for the Jackbox and those casual games, they're for a different market so a little bit weird to include them.

So yet again, these are a TINY fraction even if I granted you all of them.

But do demonstrate how the games nmentioned are playable with the limited input you claim.

All those games including FS are more involved then PS games, that's my point. And pointing out that a game has a small market is changing the goalposts.

That was intentional, actually. After the crash of 83, Nintendo wanted their new platform's branding to downplay the "video game" angle. This is also why it loads from the front like a VCR instead of the top like every other cartridge-based console.

Kind of like using the "surprise mechanics" terminology in an attempt to deflect accusations of gambling.

I could understand that thinking when they released the NES, and I guess after it was successful they'd want to capitalize on that brand recognition when they released the SNES. Still resulted in a peculiar name though.
