What video game console has the dumbest name in your opinion?
For me it's the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. If you didn't know what Nintendo was you'd think it was some sort of high-end luxury vehicle infotainment system. Dishonourable mention to the X-Box Series X or whatever.

Game Cube is the best named console.

Interesting that Nintendo didn't start as an electronics company too, but they made playing cards
There weren't many electronics in the 1880's.

Yeah I used I think the first Tandy (the breadbin like one) and the third one in work. They were quite lovely frankly. I always liked typing on them and aside from the occasional crash (but what computer didn't do that back then?) it was solid.

It was the PET that did the funky things like that POKE. I can't remember the exact address but I'm sure it's documented online somewhere. It was hilarious as it'd just make it run faster, and even would hit the screen pretty bad and brightly (I'm sure if you managed to keep it runing long enough it would burn in the screen too).

There were a lot of weird corner cutting things on the PET as Commodore were pretty notirous for it. I can't remember more offhand though.

One thing I love about the Pet was the fact you could open the whole top part like a car to remove parts or fix things. Such a neat design.

Here you go, only the POKE isn't a real chip killer

Ah now I think I watched that video. It seems to be a bit of Chinese whispers. It isn't a chip KILLER. It does make them pop out the sockets if left because I've done it.

As I said it does create heat. If you scroll down to the comments, I think you'll see my comment there too.

And yeah the solid metal chassis of the PET was nasty to clonk into on the corner of ta desk, but bluiss to open up and work on.

One of the things I love about maintaining all my older consoles and computers is that older systems are generally much easier to work on. Not just some of them (like the BBC Micro which I dearly love) which has a lot of socketed chips and such, but single layered circuit boards to work on without hidden traces, and no damned tiny microcomponents either so I don't need a magnifying glass to solder.

And real screws too.

Van Gogh was still alive when Nintendo was founded.

Oh I know I have a fondness for the old computers but looking now the prices wanted are out of my reach.

This is one area I'm massively thankful for.

I've always been of the mindset that you don't sell anything as you might want it again in future. Plus when I am interested in something I don't tend to fall out of intrest in it.

So I've kept almost everything I've bought games and console wise.

THank ♥♥♥♥, frankly, as you said, some things are stupidly priced now. When I look at some of the games I have, it's absurd.

Anywho, last night before going to sleep I thought of something I'm surprised nobody has yet brought up in this thread.

THE SOULABOY GAME CONSOLE LINE.

Surely that has not only the dumbest name, but the whole venture is as dumb as they come.

Same here. Still don't really want to sell though, even though I have more than a couple worth much more than I paid for them.
i highly disagree with your opinion on the snes lol

Back then, it was a luxury system. It cost $199 which in todays money is $410. Notorious BIG even raps about Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis in one of his songs because of how cool you were if you had one ;)

The controller was amazing compared to NES, the game selection and graphics and music and everything, just fantastic. Plus you didnt have to blow on your game cartridge to clean them out like you did on NES haha.

Now, Xbox, I can agree with that totally. A box of X? Cmon now.
