Sony "owning the rights" of Steam?
I was having a discussion with a friend about the game Transistor. He got onto the topic of the PS4 and stated that Sony "owns the rights to/of" valve. I looked on the internet and found no verification of this.

Is there any truth to this claim?

Nope.

No, Valve isn't owned by or controlled by Sony in any way. They had a small collaboration when letting people use Steam for Portal 2 on PS3, but Sony didn't gain any kind of ownership of Valve or Steam. Your friend is confused, or just making things up.

Your friend is an idiot, you should slap him with extreme prejudice.

This. Any chance your friend is a Sony "fanboy"? Nobody else could come up with something stupid like that.

They had at one point some integration between psn and steam. I say this because I signed up for steam using my psn account. :)

Yes, that's why barely a single Sony PlayStation-exclusive title ever appears on Steam, because Sony hate making money. And Sony's direct competitor in the gaming arena, MicroSoft, release their exclusive titles on Steam on a semi-regular basis.

I'm being sarcastic, of course.

It does sound like it. I agree with the rest, slap some sense into him.

The game is self-published by SuperGiant Games. Even their previous game Bastion was published by WarnerBrothers so if your friend was going to claim 'ownership' WB would at least make 'some' sense (but still 100% wrong)

There is absolutely nothing in his claim whatsoever. Tell him not to skimp on his medication.
