Why did a dead gorilla become a meme?
Just reading the title sounds messed up.

I would have shot him to.. Child life is more important.
We have more humans than gorilla's though...
I'm not saying, I'm just saying.

So just let the Child possibly die? alright then.

Or shoot it with a tranquilizer gun. I understand it would take like 10 minutes or so but, eh.

Better safe than sorry. Besides, what's the gorilla ever going to do for society? If that child grows up to be a trash man, he's still going to be more useful than that gorilla would have ever been.

The number of gorillas in the world is 100.000.
The number of humans - 7,455,083,840.
795 million humans are starving in the world.
3 billion are living on less than 2,5 USD each day.
1,3 billion live on 1,25 USB each day.
One billion children worldwide are living in poverty and 22 thousand dies each DAY due
to poverty.
Let that sink in...

The gorilla can't produce what humans can.

A man with severe down syndrome will contribute more to society than the gorilla ever will.

Just because there are fewer gorillas doesn't mean they're somehow "special," what is special is the value of each individual human being. It's why we've EVOLVED to number around 7.5 billion individuals, and gorillas are still at a mere 100k. If they didn't want to be shot, maybe they should have caught up with the rest of us?

Let that sink in...
Lack of imagination/originality.

People look for just about any reason to get their genitalia out. Hedonism 101.

Ugh I sound like what I hate: an environmentalist.
Humans takes up too much space in this world and we keep forcing species extinct.
If we're so intelligent, shouldn't we use our brainpower to protect the other species to make sure they get through?
Or is it just the usual BS "the strongest survives"?
Wanna take a look at the cross river gorilla? Critically endangered.
Eastern Lowland Gorilla? ditto.
Mountain gorilla? ditto
You're gonna love this one - Western lowland gorilla, which harambe was? critically endangered.
Yet extremely poor people keep on reproducing out of the claim "I have the right to".

People get upset over everything. Once people find another thing to hop onto they'll forget the damn ape instantly.
I'm going to eat as many cookies as I possibly can and die from it, and if I DON'T become a meme for it I'll be pretty disappointed.

(actually I'll be dead so I won't care)

Chalk it up to how twisted the internet has made real life society today. Honestly, if we didn't have the internet or social media humanity would be so much better off.

Won't work since you're human.
shiiii-- we're gonna have specism sooner or later let's just start right now.
Cecil the Tiger died and no one made memes about him.

Human beings are very social and that is a good thing, but sometimes it can be pernicious. Especially if they repeat those abominations known as "memes."

*Squawk* Polly want a cracker.

It's an insult to their intelligence.

Some kid has school posters of him running for class president, and he has a picture of Harambe saying "He would want you to do it!", I felt guilty after I laughed.

I like to think it's being done to drive home the point that his death proved humans are more savage than animals.
