Does anyone know GameStop 's refund policy for unopened Pc games?
I was shopping on Saturday and while I usually don't go to GameStop, I was in the area and was looking for 360 games worth an impulse buy. I decided to walk by the PC section, and saw a game that looked like it had an interesting feature. The cashier wasn't certain if it had it or not, but she was leaning towards yes, so I bought it assuming I would do research and refund it later if it doesn't. From what I can tell online, it doesn't have that feature. I've been looking at GameStop 's refund policy online, and while it's not definite, it looks like it may be a no as to if I'm able to get a refund. I'm just wondering if it's worth the trip to even ask.

As I said in the title, the plastic wrap around the game box is unopened, and none of the codes inside have been used.

I'm pretty sure EB Games (a similar store) doesn't let you refund PC games since there's the possibilty of using the code somehow and giving the box back so you get the game for free.

That's why I left it unopened. I assume they'd be able to tell if someone took the plastic off and simehow put it on again.

Well depending on how you're doing financially it might be worth trying to get a refund, can't hurt.

The only way would be to open it to look at the code and then see if it can still be redeemed which i am sure they are not authorized to do.

True, but I take mass transit, and it can be a hassle to get places. I was just asking in case someone was ever in my specific situation and could give me a definate yay or nay.

But the only way for me to use the code would be to open the case, and the only way to do that is by taking off the plastic covering it, which I have not done.

I don't know gamestop and while I don't think the cashier is to blame if it was gamestop employees who told you that it probably has a feature that it doesn't I am sure you can get a refund.

Some one could easily open it and then sell the key on some key reseller site and then reseal it. Its not like plastic wrap is really rare or unique.

Which is why I want to know if someone has done it and knows for sure either way.

If you don't want to waste the travel (entirely understandable), probably quickest and easiest to just call the store and ask, right? They're the ones who will actually know.

Should have thought of that. I generally hate being on the phone, but it's probably faster than going there. It's late in my time zone, so I may try that tomorrow.

Not sure about now since I haven't been to GameStop in awhile, but the one near me let me take a unopened PC game back. Though the workers all liked me since I was in there every other day and they let me return my used games after I beat them within seven days for a full refund, beat renting games, I could just buy a fifty dollar used game and trade it in for any other game when I was bored

Most places will accept unopened software. Policies tend to be no refunds on opened software.

As has been suggested, call them to find out first.

If you have the receipt, they will give you your money back in the form you paid. No receipt, if you have I.D. they will do store credit. Both of these are only in the even that it is unopened, as you stated. If it IS open, for PC you get no option beyond replacement. And they will open your replacement game before handing it to you.

Sounds like you are fine for a return or exchange though.

Just thought I should follow up. Went to GS today and got a refund with little hassle.
