No, never had VLC....
I have itunes, but I don't feel like having to wait a minute every time for a music file or audio file..
Not really understanding what's the problem is tho, have you played with the "playback" options if they are starting late, or did you dl those songs and have a pause at the begining of a song if so you can use a video editing software and cut it out.
Or are you loading them into Itunes each time? If so then just make a folder somewhere on your computer and just go to file > add folder to library.
I am using groove music, and I can play the songs in audacity, their is no Silent intro. I just don't get the song options. everything is unpressable and greyed out except volume (groove music) and I can't play certain files. I know they work cause they run in audacity and wmp (windows media player)
Its a audio software. Like windows media player
It was working before. certain files of the same types will run. and they will all work in audacity so its a software based problem. nothing is wrong with my files.
Audacity merely decompresses/decodes and presents the raw sound ither for playback, editing or whatnot. Tehre is no license retreival whatsoever, so this would indicate the file integrity is maintained and that the necessary codecs exist on the computer and are operational.
That just leaves two options
1) Groove music is no longer compatible with the codec
Have you restarted the computer?
2) License is invalid
Refer to the source of wehere you licencesd the files from.
1. Yes I restarted the PC
2. Files that used to work has stopped working, I think its cause the software scans for music files and I have tons of audio files (voice clips, songs, ect)
3. by license are you asking like a serial key? Cause if you are, its free....

EDIT: Infact, even some funny voice clips I recorded before that worked like a week ago stopped working, Since their just audacity voice clips it should always work, and the same files will play 100% of the time on WMP (windows media player)
