Anime: Subbed or Dubbed?
I am fluent in Japanese, but whenever I watch dubbed anime I cringe. I've only ever seen a couple that I like (Black Lagoon, Panty and Stocking), and the rest of them sound cringey. Is it just me?

Subbed. Not because I understand Japanese, but because the dubs are usually done on a dime and horrible, horrible quality.

This imho
Just depends on the technical quality of the dub, for me (eg, there isn't a horrible lip animation vs. vocalization timing sync issue etc). Many aren't that great, but there are some that are fine. Samurai Champloo was one, for example. Sword of the Stranger another. Some other older animes I've seen (haven't watched a lot recently).

Sometimes for me it's just a matter of what I saw first. If one originally watches something dubbed (and it's not a terrible technical job of it), you're used to those voices/word readings, so to speak. Or vice versa. I still can't watch the subbed version of Das Boot, even tho that's not the worst dub I've ever encountered.

I don't have a huge general preference for subs or dubs. If something I've never seen before has dubbed, I may choose it because I want to watch while really tired, lying down and farther away from a screen - not exactly the best frame for reading. Or if I start out subtitles but the dialogue is long-winded and the subs. move/change so fast I feel like I can never look at the picture vs. the text, I may switch (most anime that I've seen doesn't have this problem tho...)

(corrective edit: I don't care how long I live, I'll still probably always mix up/mistype Das Boot as Das Boat)

Dubbed.
I hate it when anime girls just being completely sharp and soft to their voice, and it hurts.
the anime girl voice sounds so unrealistic and exagerrated to me

There's that.
I generally dislike it when Eng. dub actors try to emulate this language-tonal difference in English. It's part of what makes some dubs silly, imo.
Subbed. Whatever it might be, I always prefer it to be in the language it was meant to be, I can't stand anything that is dubbed. Simply feels unnatural.

Depends on the content. If it's more action oriented I prefer dubs so I don't miss anything while reading. If it's more story driven, subs because VA's aren't always so great.
Depends on the context, really. If I am watching something new, I prefer subs. If I am watching something casually or as something in the background, dub. And it always depends on the quality of the dub. I tend to be pretty flexible on this, and don't make claims of some anime elitist "If you don't watch subs, you are not a true fan of anime" mentality. Too many years of the only anime you could get was either raw on a well worn cassette from a shady guy at a con, a fan sub done off recorded television, or a fan sub. You really learn to appreciate a sub or dub done by a professional company, and learn to be happy with both.

Except 4kids. Because that company is made of ♥♥♥♥.
I watch the dubs
I hear a lot of about how 4kids was terrible but they aren't terrible because

I NEED A MANSTER TO CLOOBUH DAT KURBEH
I prefer subbed because most dubbed anime has some pretty bad voice actors. Dragon Ball still has some really bad voice actors imo. How is that possible btw? How long have they been doing it and still can't find good actors?
I can understand people not liking Japanese Goku but the rest are just fine in Japanese.

I've watch Cromartie High School as dubbed but it's because it wasn't serious and the main guy did a good job.

Also I prefer to watch a movie in it's original language than dubbed. That's if I get subtitles, if there are none I just won't bother.
Dub, if I want to read I'll get a book.
Dubbed pokemon is ok

Agreed. The Japanese ones have voices that match the character far better as well.
Messaggio originale di Fusion:
I can't watch subbed anime, and I don't really mind cheesy VA's. They add to the charm.
Excel Saga comes to mind. They had a decent VA at the start, and the anime was funny. Midway through, they changed to someone else, and her grating, horrid take on the original's voice made the show just a touch more absurd and entertaining.
