Do you think Pitbulls should be banned?
Pitbulls have by far the highest fatal dog attack share by breed (65% in 2018 nearly 68% in 2022) the second place is Rottweiler which is 10%.
some people say the dog attack has nothing to do with breed, it's just bad owners, bad training and the other claim it's the dog breed's purpose that is to fight and they should be kept away from childern and small pets.

what do you think?

of course the redditor calls for things to be banned

Why don't we ban you instead?

Why not ban everyone at all?

I have a pitbull mixed dog and it's like a baby, probably if responsible owners taken care of their pets (pitbull or not) nothing like that would happen or will be not as usual

being like a baby doesn't make them less dangerous. this family that got their toddler tore up had their pitbulls for 8 years, loving and caring. still they suddenly attacked the toddler

you may find sweet pitbulls never attacked anyone, though. but statistics graph shows most are dangerous and you shouldn't have one in residential area specially where kids and small pets are.

No, but I do thing potential dog owners need to be aware of the risk associated with the breed. Ultimately they are liable for their dogs actions, so a little information can go a long way to prevent problems in the future.

pretty much this :steamthis: the owners who can't control their pitbulls (or other dog breed) shouldn't be owning one. And they shouldn't push others to interact with their dogs as pitbulls can't be socialized. it's best for people who lives in farm far away from town

Statistics without context means nothing, if you leave an animal with a baby you are an irresponsible parent. Don't humanize animals, I recently saw a video with a dog *protecting* a baby, a veterinarian explained what the dog's body language meant, the dog was not *baby sitting the baby* it was reclaim it as it's property

IMO the reason they're most commonly responsible for biting incidents and fatalities is because they're most commonly owned by idiots who have no business being anywhere near a dog. Which is why they go out and buy the most stereotypical "I have no business being anywhere near a dog" kind of breed. You know, the kind of people who try and use a dog as a nanny for babies (lol), or treat them like a weapon, or just leave them alone in the house growing bored and frustrated all day every day. The kind who can't control their animal and perversely find disobedience and running away etc cute or funny.

So ideally we need to tackle the complex socioeconomic issues that create idiots.

Better would be restrictions on who gets to own a dog.

Like most people who see a short nosed dog just gets scared and it makes me pissed i let my boxer breed to the dog park she is a very energetic for her breed when she went to play with the other dogs there owners would pull them away from her she is not a aggressive dog she is just extremely energetic and loves having fun.
