Yeah, you'd have to use the Alt codes for those characters.
I can't even remembered the ones for commonly used ones like the Trademark or Copyright symbols or Acute "e".
I pretty much just have to have a list open to use them.
(Or sometimes just experiment, such as taking a few tries to find that ä is hold Alt + type 132)
And yeah, as he said, outside of Germany, that's how they differentiate Football (aka soccer) from the mechanical game table (Foosball).
So, I guess it's a case of "They're miners, not minors." for Germans?
(i.e. both pronounced exactly the same)
Usually, as I'm lazy, the latter is the choice :)
