Do people use reason and think logically anymore?
What the cause of any problem.
When someone used "emotion over reason."

The problem is that someone's "logic" can be easily manipulated by emotions and alternative reality. What seems logical to someone may originate from a crazy cult leader or insane conspiracy theories.

Something like logic which is often seen as objective is a purely subjective matter to a vast majority of people. A lot of religious people find their logic from the book, and non-religious people will thus not agree on the same logic.

So often when we talk about logic and reason, we are actually talking about emotions even though we are not too keen to admit it.

Logic is:

a science that deals with the principles and criteria of validity of inference and demonstration : the science of the formal principles of reasoning;

a branch or variety of logic;

a branch of semiotics;

the formal principles of a branch of knowledge;

a particular mode of reasoning viewed as valid or faulty;

relevance, propriety;

interrelation or sequence of facts or events when seen as inevitable or predictable;

the arrangement of circuit elements (as in a computer) needed for computation;

something that forces a decision apart from or in opposition to reason;

Yes, not much of anything of objective nature. Logic is not entirely subjective either, but it is not some well-defined universally shared and similarly perceived thing.
Except logic is the best thing we have when used with empirical evidence to demonstrate reality.

So no on it's own it's not as reliable, but together there is nothing better.

It#'s why things like science and law use it.

Alternatively, anyone can easily demonstrate something better but so far nobody has managed this.

I'm not sure it's worse now then previously in history. Well, not much worse. And if you go back far enough it was way worse back then (largely because we just know much more now and are better at education).

I think a bigger problem is that people are too sure of themselves and too convinced whatever they believe is the truth because of *insert reason here*. Some self doubt is a good thing (though too much of it is of course not good). It's what allows people to realize they analyzed things incorrectly, or that their logic had an issue, things like that.

As far as I know no. I still read on various sites that many people are still paying the Online Switch subscription scam...

I think it is slightly worse nowadays, but I can't be sure.

I think the largest reasona for this is you can see a correlation (no I know that's not causation) between certain regions like the US and their declining standards of education along with people not being able to rationalise properly, also it can show some similarities with religiosty too (look at Afghanistansince the 1970s for example).

Of course social media didn't help either - that fuelled the fires as it took willing gullible people and Faceoobk allowe dbad actors (and even got paid by them )_ to spread misinfomration which appleaed to their emotions.

The you compare this to certain places like Scandinavia, where you have far better education systems, you have less of this.
So yeah it's largely ALWAYS been a problem but I thinkthere are some correlations in it growing, certainly in some areas.

The man who said "facts don't care about your feelings" forgot to consider that feelings don't care about your facts, either.

Well, not really.

Because that's a nonsense. If you really mean that a lot of the time the people who say it are prjecting then yup, I agree.

The problem is feelings not caring about facts is irrelevant.

Ben Shapiro did and he was saying it about genders showing how literally science proves that there's only two and that science does not give a wooden nickle about a a bunch of people with hair colors of a broken cotton candy machine have to cry about.

Which its not wrong as the smaller sentence of "Facts dont care about your feelings" is literally just a shorter way of the more known "Actual evidence gives no damns about your emotional baggage when it comes to the actual facts that have been presented that you cant seem to counter without getting emotionally upset over being wrong."

Yup and he's a perfect example of projection.

Because science DOES say there are more than two GENDERS. But he conflated it with SEX, which science says otherwise.

That's what people like him do - project and lie. It's why he does that trick of talking fast as it hoodwinks the hard of thinking.

Andrew Tate does it too just to name another one who can't logic.

Not a problem - I got what you meant. I didn't realise it was THAT popular. I'm actually glad people take the piss out of him for it.

It for a while was more commonly used for more of the outright "What he meant was!"

I don't think it's that irrelevant.
Feelings affect the behaviour of people, and doing so they have practical consequences that become facts as well.
