Teabagging is in danger
Well maybe you will get in trouble with teabagging in the future…..

A debate sparks among gamers about whether the act of 'teabagging' can be considered sexual assault given its context in online gaming.

In online gaming, there are more than a few ways in which players can mess with their opponent. One of the most common ways a player can jokingly troll their opponent is through "teabagging." For the uninitiated "teabagging" is a gaming term that involves one player, usually in an FPS or fighting game, rapidly crouching over their defeated opponent. It is assumed that the practice began somewhere around the era of Quake or Counter-Strike in 1999, but "teabagging" truly spread across the gaming community with the release of Halo: Combat Evolved.

Now, over 20 years since "teabagging" began as a practice, some gamers are debating whether it should be considered a controversial action. Specifically, some believe that "teabagging" counts as sexual assault. To some, "teabagging" has been seen as a controversial act, and it was banned from a Killer Instinct tournament in 2017.

The conversation was sparked on Discord, when one user joked about being a "serial offender" when it came to "teabagging." Some found this joke to be unfunny and to be making light of a serious issue like sexual assault. Since screenshots of the Discord conversation broke out online, gamers all over social media have been weighing in with their thoughts. Some big names, like popular streamer MoistCr1TiKaL, have decided that "teabagging" does not count as sexual assault.

Others are firmly in the belief that the act should not be used in games and at the very least counts as sexual harassment, if not full assault. Still, "teabagging" is a practice that will likely remain prevalent in gaming. Even outside of video games, it seems that "teabagging" is considered more of a celebratory move than it is a controversial one. In late 2021, an NFL player was seen celebrating after a sack with a "teabag." So, unless the internet was to unilaterally decide against the act of pressing the crouch button repeatedly after killing an opponent, it seems that "teabagging" will stick around.

In the world of gaming, developers have even promoted "teabagging." Call of Duty: Warzone revealed a "teabag" finisher move back in 2021, and following a nerf to the act in Overwatch, that saw players unable to stand over their opponent after they were hit with Ana's Sleep Dart, the developers at Blizzard quickly changed the ability so that players could once again "teabag" at their own discretion.

All this nonsense is garbage.
If you physically place your testicles on another human's head then you are sexually assaulting them. Why? because you are getting enjoyment from placing your sexual organ on another person organ, "skin".
Should the idea of tea bagging be sexual assault on a video game avatar from a video game?

Did the world miss me when they all started smoking crack?

I've played team based FPS games and I've been squatted on when I died, but is that really tea bagging? The user that presses the Ctrl key a bunch of times to squat on me is not tea bagging, the avatar has no testicles to tea bag. If you want to really tea bag someone, then invite a friend over and when they are sleeping, whip out your testicles and slap them right down on their forehead. I'm sure the reality of truly tea bagging someone will make you grow up and never tea bag again. Why? because it's stupid.
Then I guess you ought to charge us for murder as well for killing pixels in a video game.

Depends what you mean.

I know this comes froman article. But they're REPORTING, not creating are they?

The fact is that if teabagging is being looked at to be punished or got rid of by publishers or devs, fine by me as this obviously has impact on some gamers, when it should be welcoming for all.

NOw, what do you mean?
If something has harmless as teabagging is having a serious emotional impact on someone i think they might have some more serious problems than being teabagged.

How sensitive can people get?
That's because that's not the only metric - that's the point.

Why does everyone have to jump to those "snowflake" assumption?

You know that in many societies in the world there arwhat you can say in certain areas of the public, because there are knock on effects, and not all of it is to do with decency or hurt fee fees.

It's more about making things run fludily and not causing fuss when there dones';t need to be.

Why do people lack empathy?

Except that's not been demonstrated.

Banning for bad behaviour shas been a thing for decades and yet I've seen zero evidence of games fundametnally doing badly for it.
Pfftt... People expecting empathy everywhere on the internet. How more naive they can even get?

Empathy is so overrated. Glad there are some places to escape from it.

how is teabagging bad behavior if you're so offended that someone teabagged you in a virutal online game you can turn off at any time, maybe its not for you.

On the other hand people who rarely touch multiplayer games because of the toxicity they attract may start buying those games where toxic people isn't invited.

It's bad manners, like flipping the bird to someone. And playing a game where you explode someone to bits with a rocket launcher doesn't grant you the right to be a tool to others.

These threads remind me why I stick with bots and single-player games.

It is disrespectful and petty. I personally attribute such behavior to individuals like LowTierGod. And playing against people who have caveman manners is a waste of time.

Ok. But it's just true that teabagging is so immature and usually comes from the toxic type.

True... But it is pretty funny when someone gets mad over it. I think it's alright since it's almost always pretty harmless.

If you call teabagging sexual assault, what would shooting the enemy be? Murder?

I don't really like teabagging and wouldn't miss it if people stopped doing it, but it's not sexual assault and I don't see why it should be banned (even though it's immature and, well, dumb).

nice way to downplay the severity of sexual assault, I see no way this could backfire at all
Didn't think of that, but I'm inclined to agree with this point.

when was anyone ever harmed by teabagging?

What about when they get shot in the face by my flak cannon? Is that murder?
