Sadly, he committed suicide by shooting himself twice in the back of the head.
That's not funny, imo, HOWEVER, it is a great piece of rhetoric for pointing out that a "suicide" isn't actually a suicide. :thepro:

It's funny in the split-minded desensitized "we're screwed, the world is messed" sort of way. Which ties into my post earlier in the thread. Comedy is actually a tool of the elite. If they can get you to laugh about it, you won't ever respond or fight back. It's a pressure release valve and cultural normalization tool, and is employed as a slow creeping process. That's why jokes like that can be made in prominent outlets, that's the purpose of Jon Stewart, Steven Colbert, Family Guy, South Park to an extent, and so on. Comedy is a potent weapon, once you laugh, it's like you're dirty along with them.
Huh... I was googling for such humour and discovered "A Book of Bunny Suicides." It seems actually funny. Rake with tied knife to it. Playing tennis with a grenade. Lighting fart on fire into pipe with other end pointing at face.

Still Nothing. You can jest with anything. Just as I believe Your_White_Knight was after.

BUT with anything in anyplace and in anywhere?... Now that's not the thing.

Kiddiecat went into a scenario, so you showed us an example of poor judgement of jesting

feel free to place a "prank phone call" threat at your local government office and tell me how that works out for you later - if that doesn't cause you to wind up somewhere like Guantánamo; I recommend you consult with an attorney before taking that action but you'll probably just tell the attorney that he or she is on a high horse too.

That is different thing what the main topic stated. what, if anything, is too serious to be joked about?

We were talking about the matter in more general perspective.

If you want to argue that there may be consequences... yes. Won't argue with that one. There may be consequences with everything you say. Or I say. Anytime we speak or write. You can't know that for sure. Unless you shut up and don't say a word and do a thing. Don't leave your house, or room. As a matter a fact don't do anything, then you prolly can minimize any possible consequences.

I understand your message. Well, partly at least. One country comes in mind. One (narrowminded) religion too. But I am no fan of french toast.

However, that doesn't mean that one couldn't jest with anything. You can and people still do. Humor is a gift for many and it is also an excellent entertainment too. Whenever you kid, you can entertain and hurt some too. It is possible.

Judgement? Carefulness? Skill? They help but are not exclusive.

After-all, nothing is too serious to joke about, right? :ddgeye:  :ddgeye: :bigbomb:

Yes. And you can't turn my mind with that. But in where, when and how?... A different thing.
You can now even joke about 9/11 and how the towers fell funny.

I legit saw somewhere a 9/11 chess set, airplanes vs buildings.
I do not believe in censorship, at least within the confines of the law. Either everything is on the table, or nothing is, as long as it's legal, in my eyes it's fair game.

I.E Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

Ah, but it actually is still what the topic is about.

If you can joke about anything but not all the time or anywhere then you arguably can't actually joke about actually anything (or at least shouldn't - no one will be able to stop someone from making credible threats for entertainment, at least not until you've made the first one).

As stated, you CAN do such a thing for your own humor and entertainment - perhaps even the humor and entertainment of others ...however, you probably won't, because it's "too serious" to place a threat or claim that you're there to rob a bank or something ..."as a joke".
...you (probably) don't want to deal with the consequences.

If it brought amusement then it was successful as a joke, to - someone,
...albeit it was additionally other things as well.

The fact of the matter is, a joke told at 2AM in a public restroom, repeated the same joke at 4PM at someone's funeral, isn't actually the same joke.

If you threaten someone with a gun in a video game, they (usually) respond with some vulgarities about you and your mother.
If you threaten someone with a gun in real life, you get to see genuine FEAR from them
...and to some people that's funny to them.

Everything is, so it had better be good.

And yet, there are people who do this. If you want to go in scenarios, you had to build or make examples. And yet, you still can joke about anything. Consequences... usually there is some. Too serious is again a matter of... either personal insight or judgement of others. If one doesn't find it too serious, I can't make him. Or her.

If you can joke about anything but not all the time or anywhere then you arguably can't actually joke about actually anything (or at least shouldn't - no one will be able to stop someone from making credible threats for entertainment, at least not until you've made the first one).

Well if we think about the subject again: what, if anything, is too serious to be joked about?

You can joke about anything. You can't argue with that. If one finds it funny and not too serious, there's nothing to turnover that.

But I understand your point and idea about the consequences. It was a good one.

The fact of the matter is, a joke told at 2AM in a public restroom, repeated the same joke at 4PM at someone's funeral, isn't actually the same joke.

There is a point in here... agreed.

There are plenty of things you shouldn't joke about. If you think people are being too sensitive, you're probably being insensitive.
It's selfish to make jokes that offend people. A joke is meant to be funny, so why make a joke at the expense of other's feelings? It makes no sense, your entire shtick would be you being obnoxious and insufferable. Normally we condemn such people and call them out on it.
People understand that you can't make a joke about your friend dead's mother but they can't understand that other jokes aren't always okay either. They're just choosing to be ignorant because they want to get away with offending certain groups they don't like.

The people who take these jokes too seriously are an issue. No, NOT the group that gets offended when the joke gets made BUT the group that thinks there's truth in those jokes.
Gullible people enforce stereotypes and use that to spread hate. They don't realize that there's zero truth in the joke.
It also goes the other way around. You joke about a subject and people don't take the subject seriously at all when it gets brought up in a serious manner. Serious issues shouldn't be taken lightly.

What's the issue with jokes being censored anyways? Isn't it 'just' a joke? Why is it such a big deal to some that people can't joke about everything? Does that 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗻𝗱 them? If so, sounds like they should stop being so sensitive.

Because something somewhere to someone will be "offensive"... and nobody would ever be able to make a joke...

Time for some people get a spine.

George Carlin was thrown in jail in the 1970s because his jokes were "offensive" and "obscene" by someone's standards. Was that okay? Hey, he should have censored himself, because jokes are no big deal, right?
These are the days I miss Don Rickles.... a true comedian and a King... *sigh*
