its ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ terrifying.
I wouldn't play paintball though, since I'm not interested in getting paint on me.
in the UK due to the fact we have verry strict gun laws, airsoft guns are allowed to look more realistic. often you can't tell them appart from a real gun.
It doesn't hurt at all with a mask. If you're playing right, you'll only ever be shot in the mask or marker. Sometimes the hand or forearm if you're unlucky, but only shots that land squarely on a finger joint really hurt.
I've never played Airsoft before, but from what I hear, a lot of Airsoft players are jerks. Unlike paintball, they can ignore shots that hit them, and there are paintball players who try that. If you're caught wiping on a paintball field, you are out of there, probably with a suspension for a few games. Try it more than once and you'll likely be banned from the field. When you're hit, even by spray, you are hit.
Airsoft players have no such motivation, and the ones who really suck will supposedly try to make you quit through pain. At least, that's what I've heard, and it makes sense given the rates of fire Airsoft guns can achieve. There are paintball players like that, too, but since a player is likely to be wearing the evidence of a merciless close range barrage, it's less common.
Ofc, my opinion is biased. It's based on random paintball games with people I sometimes know and sometimes don't. I'm sure good Airsoft groups don't have the problems with cheating or brutality. However, there are none I know of in my area and I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on a gun when paintball suits me just fine.
I think i know another area on the body that will hurt more then the knuckle.
These are the bb's we used. They was steel bb's.

Not as much as you'd think. Ever notice how paintballers tend to wear baggy clothes? They do a good job of arresting the momentum of balls.
For females, chest-plates are preferable, as they also do a good deal to break the momentum of sensitive globes.
Other than that, the places that hurt most to get hit in are the neck or the joints. Most of the male torso, thighs, and arms will only suffer light bruising that you won't notice until the next day due to muscle density, testosterone, and adrenaline.
Ladies don't have it so easy. They have extra layers of fat and ceulllose that are easily damaged thanks to the same force that makes them jiggle. The soft tissue transmits force to their muscle and is not as capable of reparing itself as iron-rich muscle.
From what I am told, women suffer a lot more pain in paintball, most of the time. What hurts most is getting shot in the nipple. I can understand that, having been shot in the nipple myself, and without the benefit of layers of tissue tearing because something just slammed into them at 200+ feet per second. There is an impact on a sensitive area, and then there's having it feel like it's being ripped off because of sensitive flesh around it.
Personally, I wear utility military trousers, boots, and a T-shirt. Along with the required mask. That's more than enough protection for most applications. If I screw up and get hurt, that's just part of what makes the game fun and exciting.
airsoft tends to be a more serious game than paintball because in paintball you basicly just get overalls and a paintball gun (paintball guns are all basicly the same tho). shoot to kill, you get hit your out.
but in airsoft not only is there thousands of different types of airsoft guns (and catagorys like: machine shotgun semi-auto sniper granade lanucher etc) but there are also secondarys, granades, flashbangs, radio equiptment, different masks, real gun attachments (torch, lasersight,)
, custom equipment and much more.
also most of the equipment used in airsoft (or at least in the UK) is real military and tactical equipment.
paintball is very basic but easy to learn and fun to play but has little variety since every player is basicly the same
airsoft is more complicated and more customised but people take it too seriously and cheat.
something thats awsome is airsoft tho is the customised stuff like the halo assult rifle airsoft gun or luminous airsoft bullets that makes it look like your firing a lazer gun.
Simmunition is more fun, like paintballs on steroids out of real guns, and hurts a lot more than typical paintballs with more bulltlike ballistics and one of the training styles police and military use...
Airsoft is for babies.
