Trying to run Mechwarrior 2 Mercenaries in Windows 10...Any ideas?

I was finally able to dig up the Windows 95 Titanium Edition of Mechwarrior 2 Mercenaries, but I can't get it to launch in Windows 10 at all, no matter what compatibility settings I choose. Has anyone managed to get the Titanium Edition working in Windows 10?

Glad you dropped that Totoro. I was about to say anything from 95 is going to reuire DOSbox.

Glad you dropped that Totoro. I was about to say anything from 95 is going to reuire DOSbox.

Most probebly will. There are most likely a few exception. One I can think of is Castle of the Winds and that was a Windows 3.x game, but it was made to run in a window and not use DOS.

Not sure.

From what I was reading, there was a way that didn't use DosBox, but the game was so buggy and glitchy that it wasn't playable.

The MechVM program has not been worked on for a long time and, from my understanding, something in Windows changed, causing it to not work correctly.

As the link also provided a place to download the game, I had to remove it.

I don't own a copy, sadly, or I would see if I could get it running then tell you how I did it. All I can do is look for online fixes.

Sorry. Wish I could be of more help. I would think DOSbox would work though, as I think, maybe it was still running off a DOS launcher. Maybe....

Good luck with that, it was steaming pile of mess to run to begin with like most Activision games, even in DOS. More bugs then termite colony.

I used to have an old Thinkpad 570 laptop with Win 95 specifically for the older "vintage" games. Sadly, it's been dead for some time (It might've been something like old age or something. lol) but I still recommend it as quicker and easier compared to constantly fiddling with DosBox settings. (Nothing wrong with that if you have the patience or preferance for it.)

Appreciate the info, everybody...Sadly, looks like I'm just not gonna be able to get it running. Fortunately, I did manage to get Mechwarrior *4* Mercenaries (MekTek version) running yesterday, so that'll be my best option for scratching the Mechwarrior story mode itch until MW5 Mercs comes out near the end of this year

Different type of game. That one is a tactical/strategy game and Mechwarrior is a mech simulator.
