...and sometimes they double down on their stance, as can be seen from some of the responses here. Regardless, discussion is the key to building healthier communication in video game communities. It will be a very slow process, there will be ups and downs, but if work is put into it, the desired end result will be achieved.
I'm wholeheartedly sorry you have to deal with unbearable comments from thirsty ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. You're not the only one, nor the first one to post a discussion like this in here. Even though it seems there is no compassion from other people, what you're doing is actually really important. I hope other people will also come forward with their unpleasant experiences with the gaming community! No one needs to listen to the absolute toxicity that comes from the cesspool we call Gaming™.
Option A: stop playing multiplayer games
Option B: stop using microphone while playing multiplayer games
Option C: get some voice changer
Option D: keep doing what you're doing and deal with the consequences, cause people won't change.
I agree.
The blanket-statement, "video-games cause violence" is something that has always been absurd to me. It makes no specification on which video games & gets adopted by many in the general public to simply mean : "gamer = violent or predator" regardless of what type of games that they play.
Let's take a moment to consider some arguments about why gamers are the most dangerous & oppressive people that there are...
You know... people who play Tetris are well-practiced at fitting things into boxes & making them disappear ...so clearly they're dangerous.
Yoshi's Cookie is a game where you have to sort cookies into rows based on their appearance, thus segregating them ...so clearly they're racist.
Pac Man promotes a very unhealthy over-consumption of food, and the ghosts are a metaphor for cultures where people are fully robed.
Wii Fit is obviously body-shaming people for "not being fit enough", not to mention that if they actually start exercising then they'll actually be more dangerous in a fight.
Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer is obviously classist, because not everyone can afford a home of their own.
Nintendo Land's, Mario Chase, has guys with little caps literally tackle a guy who they've been provided a picture of, who is obviously "the suspect" (it's really just rebranded "cops & robbers) & thus is promoting police brutality.
FIFA is promoting toxic-masculinity.
Beetle Adventure Racing, & Rocket League, & most car games, are promoting reckless driving & road-rage.
I can't describe what is wrong with Picross but does it really make sense to you or most people? ...and if you can't understand what someone is doing then they're probably the greatest threat of all.
I'm not sure what is wrong with Pong, Snakebird, or Colorzzle gamers but... they're probably violent too.
...and those are just the games WITHOUT guns & shooting!
And if you happen to be someone who is reading this (anyone, really) & are ALSO one of the many sad & intolerant people who actually believe any of that, then you need to get a reality-check & some serious mental help.
So yeah, it's just like you said.
Many people absolutely are heartless toward all gamers.
your post was a bit hard to understand but if I get you right your problem is not with sexism in the games themselves.. but that in multiplayer games you feel harassed by other players if not.. please correct me.
well I cannot deny you your feelings.. and have no idea how far the extend of your grief goes..
-whithout that information it is hard to give you a balanced responce..
so I suffice with a general responce :
I agree people can behave really bad and the internet brings often out the worst of it.
and yes moderation often is not there when you need it.. and there when you don't.
But : knowing this may help you relavate this.. just as for you games can be a way to cope.. so is trolling or bullying online for others their method of coping..
they are best ignored and pity'd upon.
but if you are unwilling or unable to do this.. than be the wiser person.. you are not going to change the internet or this toxic server.. best to leave and play something else entirely preferably with better moderation..
if that still not solves your issue.. perhaps stick to just single player games or only playing in lan with friends..
it is not a nice solution but it is the one that will cause you the least grief.
*just as a footnote there is the female gamers do not excist meme as well as the every female char is a 40yo dude in their parents basement irl meme.
-so part of the talk against female gamers comes forth from that and while I get dealing with that joke gets tiresome.. it is just how it is.
*does ofcourse not excuse the real harasment.. after they found out you really are a girl.. well lets just say pubecent boys with less than stellar social skils say weird things online..
just turn your eyes and back to them put them on mute and walk off..
A teacher who is easily hurt and fight back will be boo at by the kids. A fierce teacher who doesn't care will control the class.
I never give any replies back,is just pointless ,I even noticed giving the info is mostly pointless cuz they will either complain about getting distracted by it or maybe the enemy just moved from that said position (I mean they have keyboards as far as I know, they can move... V:) and I was told lot of ppl use headphones to play games so I just let them use their headphones to hear the opponents and well, if we win we win, we lose ,we lose v:
A decent server host or the players themselves should kick someone who is saying truly horrible epithets. That's one of the signs that tell you whether you are playing a game with a good community. Insurgency used to kick attention-seeking racists all the time back when I played it.
eye candy thots have ruined video gaming, especially streaming platforms.
Twitch specifically had promoted any eye candy or even any average looking woman to stream, even if they were very bad at the games, simply because simp's will watch them and comment stuff like "queen" and similar garbage.
You wanna play a game without herassmint? Don't make it obvious you're female. Simple as that.
How is this not ALSO sexist?
PEOPLE choosing to be foul is a choice.
Just like people choosing to attribute a bad experience to an entire demographic is also a choice to be discriminatory.
