The price hasn't increased though. If you mean games in general, they haven't increased either. They are cheaper now.
you are trying to tell me that a 70 dollar standard asking price is not more than 60, especially during a time of record low wages and job losses?
Okay dear.
I dont' do gymnastics.

Like I said, good times for all that can afford it.
And completely ignore the link showing how games are cheaper now...
Don't care. Triple A usually sells at a ludicrous price anyway for their crappy rinse-and-repeat games; this is nothing new to the common practises of the scandalous big companies within the video games industry of nowadays.

When i have seen crapier games on steam for €199. yea its okay price for what you are getting.

Like this obvious money laundering scam:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1193660/JackOLantern_Covers_of_Darkness/

Check the regional pricing to see what's going on.: https://steamdb.info/app/1193660/

Valve must be happy taking their 30% cut of laundered money as they still haven't removed it, despite it being reported a year ago.

Yea but i am talking about those games that comes from obvius building programs where some one just took the tutorial and sold it here just to brake even instead of learning how things works.

First of all, do you have any proof for your accusations?

And it doesn’t matter if some tiny indie dev goes crazy and screws up the regional pricing like that. It has no impact on the game industry as a whole. But if big companies like Square Enix raise their prices, it will follow up in a general inflation on the gaming market because everyone’s gonna follow their example.

The price history speaks for itself. They are constantly pushing the price up, this is not a mistake. It's intentional.

As for Square, you're complaining about them using pricing in the US they've been using in many countries for years. If the US hadn't whined so much about the 60 USD price point everyone would be paying fairer price right now.

Also idk what you're on about record low wages and job losses. Firstly, that is irrelevant to the price of games. Secondly, wages are higher because of inflation (the thing you want to pretend does not exist) thirdly... never heard of the great depression? IDK where you get your facts.

I never pay anything more than about £15 for a game, especially on digital goods, so for me it doesn't even remotely apply.

I will happily wait years for games to reach the price I wish to pay for them , accrued by what I've determined from reviews.

If they never reach that, I don't buy 'em. simple.

Basic marketing.

of course not

imo the price tag is ridiculous

on my region it's 1 Million Indonesia rupiah = 71 USD

usually AAA price tag on here is around 600K-800K IDR , I will buy on day 1 if the price tag is around 600K to max at 700K.

600K is perfect , 700K is a little bit high, 800K is expensive, 900K is too expensive, and 1M or more is nope, get out.
Just won't be buying it lol

Rarely will I spend $59.99 on a game. So, yes I have a problem with it.
Haruspex 15 DIC 2021 a las 21:37
I've found that once in about 3 years a game comes out that I'm willing to pay full price for. There have been a few games where in hind-sight I probably would have been willing to pay upwards of $100 for them.

For the vast majority of games though, not worth it. And I'm patient enough that I can wait until it's cheaper.

I have no problem with the price, gaming is a luxury, and I have no valid objection to price hikes every few years.

not to mention gaming was substantially more expensive in the 90s when you account for inflation.

Example In the UK Sonic 3 + Sonic and Knuckles (both parts were required to access the full story) retailed for £44.99 each in 1993/1994 allowing for inflation that would have been £183.07 in 2020.

Allowing for inflation Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (2003) would cost £72.76 in 2020.

Now lets do the reverse, lets use Forspoken as a guildeline, £64.99 would have been £32.43 in 1994, roughly 35% the price of Sonic 3 + Knuckles and £40.80 in 2003, almost £10 cheaper than
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.
Two arguments: games had to get physical back then.

Gaming was way more niche.

Those 2 very simple things mean that games shouldn't become more expensive
