If you had to choose one console (Xbox Series X/S, PS5, etc.) Which would you choose and why?

New 3DS is much better in my opinion and it can play all DS games too. I would recommend New 3DS over the first version because you can play Super Nes Virtual Console games natively on it and there are a few masterpieces available (Super Castlevania 4, Demon's Crest, Street Fighter 2, Street Fighter Alpha 2).
The biggest fault of the 3DS for me is that Golden Axe have never released on it because of stupid 3D effect.
I have always hated Nintendo gimmicks and all the issues they cause just to shove them down your throat... even when I was a huge Nintendo fan (before Shuntaro Furukawa ruined it with his insulting scams) I loved Nintendo but I hated all the stupid stunts they did to impress the people and that always resulted in many limitations for many games.

Nowadays is useless and pointless to own a DS ,not only becuase the 3DS is better but becuase the switch is even better

If you mean in the past back in gen 4, yeah, you wished you had 1

I've always associated the playstation as having the more "grown up" games to choose from.

No it's not useless since you can play DS games and GBA games.

Pretty much all DS games have games on the switch that are waaaay better than whatever the DS offered

For this Generation?I go with Xb X/S cos I don't like the looks of PS. I stopped at XB360 and not sure if I like the games MS going to offer, so I got the S series when it first came out and I actually like GP. I can try games I normally will not think of playing. And then before Christmas, I got the X via Walmart +. So easy to get it. As for PS5, still unsure (over hyped. Over priced games like Nintendo Switch. Not interested in their exclusive. ) Maybe if they drop to less than $200 (New not some preowned crap) in a few years ( wishful thinking ) I might get one.

Seconded. If I don't end up getting a better computer (for obvious reasons, in this context) and instead got a PS3, I'd be able to play some exclusives from the time. It's also a very unique piece of hardware.

Not keen on the latest games, and I certainly dislike the black box approach of all consoles to begin with.

consoles are bad..

I would like them to disapear from the face of the earth..
I would enjou some tv program where they would force 10 people to toss their consoles in a car crusher.. and than have them compete to have only 1 of them able to earn himself a proper gaming pc;)

I really really hate consoles..
-> the only one I somewhat tolerate.. is the wiii.. because it stays in it's own corner as it should.. aka it does not ruin my pc gaming experience like those others.
still not want to own one... but well you may hate house music.. yet be tolerant enough to allow it to excist outside where it bothers you personally but those clubs near your house keeping you away at night.. they must go...

and for those who state the obious : but grafic cards are now insanely priced.... true... so anyone able I advise wait 6 months before buying a pc.. or buy a prebuild as those are now the better deal.. but still stay away from consoles...

The vast majority of the games I play are meant to be played with a controller.
I usually don't play fps games, I only play Quake 1 and Doom 64, I love Doom 64, ad yes I prefer to play them with a modern controller.
But to be completely honest I have to say that the original N64 controller was so awful that playing Doom 64 with it wouldn't be much better than with a mouse. I think it would be even worse in fact (I never tried it on the N64 back then because, like many other people, I thougt it was just a port ands I was not interested in that).

I've been thinking Switch, but the more I think about it, the recent Nintendo games are all badly uninspired. I mean, other than Planet Robobot, I think it's been legit like the DS since the last creative Kirby game. At least, that wasn't some budget title.

And don't get me started on the endless NSMB games that are all identical.

And don't get me started on getting started on how Miyamoto was all like "oh we cancelled F-Zero because I too stupid to come up with any new mechanics for it" literally at the exact moment that every Nintendo game just became a glorified expansion pack for the last one in the series... and also in the heyday of autostereoscopic 3D and online multiplayer. How is it that I can come up with making F-Zero 3D and multiplayer but Shigeru "pretty much invented video games" Miyamoto can't? Because he can and he was lying, that's why.

In my case my PS3 has become a solid Plan B. Plus it's really good to watch movies or listen music on as it still has CD compatibility.
